great Very creative. Attentive service with a fun attitude. Great decor - especially love the avant-garde metal fish and the "art" chalkboard. Excellent selection of premium sake. I was told they have the fish flown in fresh and have to make daily trips to the airport - that's dedication. The cooked items from the kitchen were so tasty, I actually want to go back to SLC, imagine that.

Go for the Sake Go for the sake and stay for the sushi. Everything from dumplings and green mussels to yellowtail and salmon. Excellent Japanese restaurant.

Takaski Gibo is The Man Formerly of the ever popular Shogun, Takashi Gibo has won the hearts, minds, awards, accolades and customer loyalty for years making the best sushi and sashimi in Utah. Using only the freshest fish, his creations are one of a kind and beautifully prepared. There are always a plethora of daily specials besides the usual fare of raw tuna, so it'd be wise to check the chalkboard as you walk in to see what's new. Every server is knowledgeable of Takashi's creations and will help steer you in the right dir... read more

Okay...but... We came to Takashi on a recommendation from some friends, shortly after moving to Salt Lake. We have lived around the world (although not Japan, yet) and all over the US. We have had some fantastic sushi and some horrible sushi. This stuff was okay. The rolls were decent, and the sashimi okay. The freshness could have been better...but we are land-locked here. The prices were a lot more than the worth of the food we received. It is very trendy. Pros: decent sushi Cons: very busy and overpriced

I think this place has some of the best salmon nigiri around.

I believe that this is the best sushi place in Salt Lake City but it's 'the best sushi in Salt Lake City';... (I mean how many other sushi places are there anyway in Salt Lake city?) But, if you're from Los Angeles like me you would probably feel that the place is a bit overrated and over-priced; there are a lot of good sushi places I would rather want to go in LA. But, if I happen to be in the area and am really craving for good sushi, I would try this place again.

this sushi place was good, but i'm from CA so i've had much better. the prices were steep. My boss and I paid over $80 for just a few pieces and a very small. the service was good, but unless you're standing in line at 5pm (they open at 530) it means you're waiting a long time for a table.

Takashi is by far the best sushi place in town. The only draw back is the wait, you could be waiting an hour or more. But it's SO worth it. They have a wonderful menu of creative rolls. I don't like tempura fried rolls covered in mayonaise. I want rolls with real flavor without grease and Takashi has a great selection. Plus they always have new rolls to try on their specials menu. The service has always been wonderful (I've been at least 30 times). Here are my tops choices: Nasu (grilled eggplant in a miso sauce - I don't li... read more
