Love the food! – All four grown children love this place. Favorites are ribs, pork, mac and cheese and their pickles. Full of atmosphere and personality!
Avoid – My wife and daughter went to the swallow at the hollow as it was advertised on a PBS special about BBQ's. The atmosphere was ok, more like an old joint or honkytonk. We ordered a full portion of ribs for my wife and I ordered a BBQ plate of pulled pork, our sides were fried green tomatoes and macaroni and cheese for me and my wife ordered F.F. and brunswick stew. Get out your Wallet – Okay --- the food was excellent - but let's face it folks - it's barbeque! For the prices you would have thought we were eating at Bones that being said -portions were huge - too big in fact -- ( hey cut the portions and the prices - there's an idea) very folksy, very quaint - off the beaten path - and they have music later starting at 10 or so would i go back --? Maybe for the bluegrass- and when I get a raise.
Reminds me of home. – I'm from a small (country) town in Alabama, and The Hollow reminds me alot of home. Not only with the good ole time BB-Q, but the atmosphere is just like you would see in a country town. From the old wood used in the building itself, to the pictures and antiques that are scattered about. You can also buy buckets of beer! If you love BB-Q, and a country theme, by all means pay a visit to Swallow at the Hollow.
Best Quality BBQ Ribs In ATL! – Without a doubt, The Swallow serves the best quality ribs in the metro area. And that's saying alot, because Atlanta does have some great Q Joints! They are meaty, tender, and you can add your own sauce when they are brought to the table-Mild to Hot! And we like it hot! Excellent! – Very tasty indeed. However, get there early and you may be trapped in the small gravel parking lot by other motorists. Get there late and you may not get a spot without blocking someone else in. The gouda grilled cheese is excellent for a quick bite. Everything that I've had there is above average. Service is average. As for the signage mentioned by another reviewer - get over it. I don't care what the front sign says if the food is good...
