Best cupcake I've EVER tasted. – Ok, the critical reviews have got to be from the owners of sprinkles. SusieCakes is nothing but fantastic. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that I have introduced to this place LOVES it. I'm a recent transplant from nyc, wher my standby was Magnolia Bakery. Yes, Magnolia, the standard by which all cupcakes are measured. My wife and I were concerned that we'd never find a cupcake on par here in la. So, we tried sprinkles, we liked it. Good cupcakes. We were happy enough. But then, a miracle happe... read more

beautiful store. baked goods below average – susie cakes is a bit pricey, which living in brentwood you get used to. but this bakery makes too sweet or no flavor creations. i have tried several things from there, always hoping maybe the last thing i tasted wasn't there best. the cupcakes are worse than box mix, esp for the $3 price tag. the oreo and strawberry cakes are sugary sweet and nauseating. the oreo cake tasted processed. no one finished their slice. really disappointing as we were so excited when a bakery opened in ... read more

Brentwood bakery serves home-style sweets in a retro-chic space. – Owner Susan Sarich, a Chicago native with a knack for nostalgia, conjures up all the flavors and aromas of grandma's kitchen in this Westside sugar haven. With a pressed tin ceiling and custom cake pan lights over head, the comfy-chic interior is sprinkled with 1950's birthday photos and framed recipes by Susan's own grandmother. The vintage cookie jars are empty, but the pastry case is brimming with decadent dessert like iced molasses snap cookies, strawberr... read more

Whoopie for Susiecakes – Beautiful new clean retro bakery in Brentwood where you can see right into the kitchen and watch the bakers make their delicious fare! I love the baked offerings from Susiecakes - especially the whoopie pies. I can't really describe them better than hey're a heavenly sweet sandwich. The red velvet cake is to die for. It's really neat how they make the cupcakes with frosting on the INSIDE! Did you know they also make a mean espresso? The staff is super-nice. They have parking in the back. I can't wait... read more

Yummy – Great treats. The cakes are delicious (I tried the chocolate & the southern red velvet). The cupcakes, while a little pricey, are very good too (I can't understand why that previous reviewer described them as awful. They're delicious). Staff are nice too. Highly recommended.

Better than Sprinkles – As we have many celebrations at work with birthdays and such, we like to try different bakery places in LA. We'd had cupcakes from Leda's (which are good, but small) and Sprinkles (which are alright, but taste rather metallic). These were like homemade. I was repeatedly asked if I made them. The extra little bit of filling in the center was a nice surprise as well. Best choices: Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Mocha, Lemon, and Coconut.

Awful! – I can't even begin to tell you how bad their cupcakes are. The cake part was dry and mealy, and the frosting tasted stale. I was looking forward to a nice big bite of frosting on the inside, and there was NOTHING! The staff was nice, but save your money. I had been forewarned by other merchants on San Vicente that Susiecakes' cupcakes are terrible. They were right, and I'm sorry I didn't listen.
