Sweet Nostalgia – SusieCakes is nestled in a small corner next to the hip Pomme Bebe and Keane coffee. It's the perfect little date spot as you can peer through the glass at all the wonderful pies, tarts, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. They keep a seasonal rotation of cupcakes and of-season fruit tarts, as well as staple favorites such as red velvet cupcakes. My favorite was the whoopie pie; it was the perfect blend of cake + cookie and looked like a giant orea. Be warned that it will take several days to finish it as it was ... read more

Frosting-filled cupcakes and other confections hit Calabasas – Like its other locations in Brentwood, Newport Beach and Manhattan Beach, this retro-styled sweet shop conjures up a little nostalgia with all the flavors and aromas of grandma's kitchen. Creating all-American treats meant to transport guests back to a more carefree time and place, the bakery creates luscious desserts entirely from scratch. Favorites include the frosting-filled cucpakes (red velvet, peanut butter, lemon, coconut and beyond) while other specialtie... read more

Great ambiance to get cupcakes – great ambiace and product packaging. The cupcakes aren't as heavy as sprinkles. I wasn't too big a fan when I tried the red velvet, but all in all, its ok. Nothing can beat sprinkles, but susie cakes does have its unique appeal.

Best Cupcakes in Los Angeles – I used to work up the street from Susie Cakes, and I quickly became almost a daily regular to the store. $3 never seemed like much...but when you're buying EVERY DAY, it gets as bad as a Starbuck habit! I think the taste of these cupcakes are phenomenal. I highly recommend the red velvet (the best they have), and their monthly flavors are always good too (favorites are the pumpkin and pineapple upside-down cakes). $3 is a little much to ask for, as these cupcakes are not as large as what you'd ... read more

Better than Sprinkles – I have celebrated several occasions with Susie Cake Cupcakes and Cakes. I have to say they are the best in town and far better than Sprinkles. However it is a hard decision during birthdays to choose the cream filled cupcakes or the cakes, not to mention that the staff is very accommodating and helpful.

If you're a New Englander don't go there for the whoopie pies.... – I've heard great things about Susie Cakes cupcakes which I have yet to try so don't use my review for their cupcakes. But if you're from New England and felt that a huge draw of theirs was the whoopie pies then don't bother. They make the outer pie/cookie part wwwaaayy too thick and dense and heavy, almost like a super thick chocolate cookie as opposed to a lighter fluffy cake. And the cream in the middle tastes too much like shortening. Do yourself a favor ... read more

Great moist cupcakes – Each cupcake ($3) was filled with frosting and ranged from Mint Chocolate, Mocha, Lemon, Marshmallow, Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet and Peanut butter. The Red Velvet was moist and the Strawberry cupcake, which tasted like strawberry shortcake was another favorite. I also liked their traditional vanilla cake with a blue butter cream frosting. These cakes aren't as dry Sprinkles and there is seating too
