Soooooo TERRIBLE!!!! Don't EVER give these people your business!! – Easily the most rude, snobby and obnoxious place in the city. They serve ONE small, boring, tasteless piece of fish at a time, SLOWLY (i'm talking 30 minutes between each piece...is THAT how they do it in "Japan???"), it's NOT that good and then when they serve it to you, they TELL you how you should eat it. I ordered a piece of yellowtail, chewy, grisly, and NOT soft (think: OPPOSITE of matsuhisa), and when I got served my tiny portion of Hamachi, the waitr... read more
?SERVICE 101? – So I took a business associate here for lunch on a recommendation. It is a small space in a strip mall. We ordered lunch and were chatting away. We realized after a while that we had not been getting any food. When we tried to get the watresses attention, she ignored us, literally. We shrugged it off and figured she was overwhelmed. We hoped she got the point and we got a dish or two over the next while. A couple were okay and one was foul. No other food ever came and we had to go back to work hungry. The ser... read more
good but unaccommodating – My fiance and I decided to try Sushi Zo after reading some of the great reviews that it received, especially one that indicated the chef was very accommodating to someone's food allergy since my fiance also has a food allergy. When we arrived, we were prepared for the "we have NO rolls" and "order is ONE piece" speech. That was all fine and dandy, until we sat down to order and asked for no sauce on our sushi because of my fiance's gluten allergy. We were informed that everything had some sort of s... read more
Absolut Best Sushi I've ever had !!!! – I have enjoyed Sushi for several years and thought I had found already the best place in town until - yesterday... WOW !!! This is on another level... what fine tasting experience... A true work of art... I think I will have to go to Japan next to come even close.... To the people who gave bad ratings - I find it a little embarrassing... please try to be conscious about what you say, and try to understand other cultures outside your own... it's not all about American kiss a** service..... read more
high price fresh fishes with below average service – There was one main chef and I heard he was the owner. He was very rude and didn't understand the basics of hospitality. The pricing exceeded most fine dinning restaurants. All other aspects of the restaurant were below average. I would recommend to try this restaurant once so that you would appreciate other good restaurants more. Unless you are willing to take anything in order to have a few fresh sushi servings, you might not go there again. My friends and I all had the ?... read more
Best Sushi in LA – My boyfriend and I are sushi die-hards, and rarely venture outside of our favorite sushi bars. However, when introduced to Sushi Zo, it knocked our socks off! Yes, it is pricey, but more than worth it for a sushi experience like this. There is not another place that even comes close. The staff is friendly, and Zo himself is a very welcoming, friendly, and exquisite sushi chef. It proves once again, that the best sushi bars are often found in surprising strip malls, not on La Cienega or Beverly! Definitely ... read more
good food but the service is BAD!! – FOOD is good but the chief is extremely rude to other customers, especially they are not order from their omakase menu. The service was very slow from the waitresses. Also, the fish took a long time to come out after each course, I felt like I waited a life time for the next little tray of fish. The place wasn't full on Monday nite but I didn't know you become the last priority if you're not ordering omakase, which seems ridiculous to me. NO more sushi zo for me!!!!
My new favorite Sushi place! – Someone asked at work where a good Sushi place was, and someone mentioned Sushi Zo. Funny thing is, I've driven past if for MONTHS. I frequent the Starbucks a couple doors down, as it was on the way to work. I'd intended to make a stop at Sushi Zo, even when it was Zen Sushi (I think), but just never got around. So, after all the emails at work today, I decided to go, despite the distance from work. Definitely the best Sushi I've ever had. Authentic (at least it seems so, I'll tell you more aft... read more
