BED BUG INFESTATION!!!! Please do not use this company or rent their homes!!! Our family visited Waves for spring break 2024 and rented home #169 Storm's End. If anyone knows the actual owner of this home, please share this information. 48 hours into our stay, one of the children woke up covered head to toe in bites. We rented a house for 10 K and it was shockingly a mess . Holes in the walls , stains on the ceilings , the deck under construction and screens falling off the doors the entire week. My family takes a vacation once a year and this was the most disappointing trip.l We rented #741 Big Kahuna - stay clear , not worth it!!! Deck was under construction, holes in the wall, water stains in the ceiling one of each washer and dryer did not work all week and the doors fell off all week long! If I could leave a 0-I would. We have rented yearly for 7-10 years. This year, we paid for pool heat (as always)-$600 + tax. Checked in on Sat 4/29-pool heat not on. Turned on. Contacted office multiple times-text, email, calls. No return call until Tuesday. Still no heat. Contractor came found heater needed to be replaced. Replaced sometime Wednesday. Deeply dishonest and disreputable company. They will not return your advance deposit when they increase the price 30% from when you made the deposit to when they send the lease. Xris Wilson will flat out lie to the NCAG office to avoid having to return your money. The fees are outrageous and a violation of the North Carolina vacation renters act.rent from literally anybody else.
If I could give ZERO starts for Surf or Sound I would. I wish we would have read all of the reviews prior to renting from them. We will NEVER rent from Surf or Sound Realty again. This was our 6th time visiting the Outerbanks but this was our first time renting from Surf or Sound and it will definitely be our last. The place we rented (Paradise Found #218) was frankly dingy and disgusting. Clearly nothing has been replaced since the house has been inhabited. The furniture has layer upon layer of sweat and dirt. Worst company and rental in my life. Blood on mattress. Complete filth. Booked for June 2022 for 1 week. Management was NOT helpful at all to fix this. They sent out another cleaning crew that was here until after 1030pm. Still not cleaned to our standards. What a complete nightmare. Do not rent from this company. They are garbage.
Having rented Whispering Surf for the past four years, each for two-week stays, I was shocked and disappointed at the increased rates for 2022. While I understand that weekly rental rates can, and should, have moderate annual increases, the rental rate increased 18.3% ($2190 to $2590). Even more disturbing was the increase in overall fees for the home.
