I have no problem with the care I received at the Berkeley Heights facility. My problem is with their billing and coding. I went in to the Infectious Disease department. The staff, as always, was friendly and courteous. However, when the bill for services arrived, even after the insurance coverage, I was billed for a doctor consultation. If a conversation consisting of "hello, how are you? " is a consultation then I am in the wrong profession. The ancillary staff took my vitals and gave me the inoculations. I have had nothing but positive experiences from the Summit Medical Group since I started going about a year ago. Dr. Christopher Demasi of Westfield is hands down one of the best doctors around and has always taken good care of me with all of my questions and concerns. The same goes to Dr. Hamed Lari of Berkley Heights who is awesome as well!
The worst emergency staff. I was there today with a finger cut from work. The doctor saw me, he gave instructions to thr nurse (Jenna) for pain killer, x ray and clean my finger nobody came in 30 minutes. I walk out this place. Doctor was not bad but he never send the prescription to the pharmacy. This place is a joke. Plus the admission lady saw me and told me " you not been here for an hour"!!!! Lady u got the wrong job.
I have been a SMG patient for well over a decade. My experiences with them have been very good until this past weekend. On Sunday, my 80yr old grandmother fell and broke her ankle. I instantly thought to take her to Urgent Care in Westfield. The office is only open until 5pm. We arrive at 4:45pm and WE WERE TURNED AWAY BY DR. ALBERTO RIVERA. after feeling sick since the last week in June, I had a colonoscopy on Friday with Dr. Gillan. the biopsies came back ok, but he left me a voicemail that said if my pain persists, I should make a follow up appointment. I call today to schedule an appointment and was told I need to wait a few more weeks before making a follow up appointment. So basically I have to feel this horrible pain after I eat and when I'm trying to sleep for "a few more weeks" before trying to figure out what's wrong?
