Great Steaks – Just had dinner at the Strip House. For the most part, it was great. We started with the Bibb Salad, Ceasar Salad, Lobster Bisque and Fois Gras. Both salads were very good, the Bisque was incredibly rich and delicious, and the Fois Gras was very good spread on the toasted bread they provided. Then the steaks came - Bone-in Rib-Eye was cooked perfectly, and delicous. We also got the Filet, which was top-notch. The lamb chops were also good. If you go - do yourself a favor and get the Rib Eye (although i am sure... read more

EXCELLENT steaks - really attentive/genuine service - dining WITH A PULSE!! – You enter into the bar area first, which gives a lower ES lounge-y feel. Then you see you are also in the dining room, which is warmly decorated in rich, vibrant red with framed pictures all around. You will be seduced by the atmosphere... Ah, but wait until you eat! We were each served a complimentary "shot" of celery and potato soup. It was surprisingly light yet silky rich and really nice on a cold day. Then the 3 of us shared a bibb salad (exce... read more

Probably the best steak in NYC – I've been to many steak houses in NYC including Sparks, Peter Lugers, and the Palm. Out of all those places, Strip House has the best steak. It is a great place for a date or a family experience (without kids) and the waiters are helpful and friendly. The service is top notch (I was shocked to see other people here saying the service was not good, that must have been an anomaly) and has been every time I have been there (about 6). The worst part of Strip House is their sides and appetizers ar... read more

Terrible service + overdone steak = disappointing experience – After we showed up on time for my B-day dinner, my friend and I were forced to wait for exactly an hour and never heard an apology. In fact, the hostess kept acting like we were lucky to even be there. My steak arrived well done, although I specifically ordered it medium-rare. The waiter was so determined to take away my plate before I was finished, that I finally said, "Ok, fine, take it if you want it so badly", after he made three attempts to grab it from unde... read more

Memorable Meal; Great Service, food and Atmosphere; Near Perfect – We had a family reunion of sorts with 6 men meeting over the holidays. Every aspect of the experience was near perfect. Admittedly, we were given probaby the best table in the restaurant; a circular, roomy table wedged in the back corner (pictured above). Our waiter was friendly, knowledgable and courteous. Pace of the meal was perfect. We never felt rushed. We enjoyed fantastic wine from the great selection which is not cheap by any means but well chosen. Th... read more

Terrible, pretentious and a rip-off... – We've heard good things about this place in the media (magazines, etc). We decided to go there on a rainy Saturday night and indulge... Well, that did not happen. The ambiance is nice, very romantic, etc What was not romantic, was to be squeezed in between two tables of posers. They could hear anything we said and almost comment - or vice-versa. That was not the worst. In addition to the astronomical prices, the service was at best irregular with attitude. It took ages for the waiter ... read more

Not so hot – I was really excited about going here. My boyfriend and I were celebrating the first birthday for either of us since we moved to the city. I consulting with lots of friends who have lived in the city for years, and none of them mentioned this place. I asked someone at work and she mentioned this place in passing. I did some research and it seemed okay location wise and some of the reviews were decent. WRONG. This place is HORRIBLE. The decor is unusual, but the place has a generally bad smell. It was not a roman... read more

I'd Strip For This Steak – Went here on a date Saturday night and we were treated like royalty. Even though we were only two, they seated us at a large booth. Told me it was my date's "usual table" even though he had never been there before--which I thought was cute. We shared a porterhouse for two and it was one of the most delicious steaks I have ever had. Cooked perfectly medium rare and peppery. The creamed spinach, bibb salad, and special twice-baked potatoes were also divine. I only wish I could have finished my apple ... read more

Great steak, Great service – I'm definitely a steak eater and this is my favorite steakhouse. Their ribeye is the best I've had - juicy, meaty, and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. Their sides are really good too - creamed spinach, foi gras. The setting is dark, location is ten times better than being in midtown manhattan with all the tourists. Be prepared to shell out the cash- worth every penny a ribeye will cost you around $40, sides are a la carte. If you haven't tried this steakhouse you MUST.
