Dr Tocci performed a Total Ankle Replacement 3/25. He does not have the necessary experience to perform TAA. After an excruciating year, I had a 2nd surgery by a different surgeon who then removed a lot of bone to accommodate the oversized component Dr Tocci installed. Dr Tocci also fractured my fibula while forcing the oversized appliance in and permanently damaged 2 nerves in the process.
I am writing this to encourage anyone considering surgery with Dr. Tocci to strongly consider getting a second opinion, as my experience felt more like a sales pitch than a thorough clinical evaluation. Clinical Findings: During my initial visit, the Physician Assistant indicated that my symptoms were very likely hamstring-related and that a meniscal cause was very unlikely. I took my daughter age 10 to see Dr Tocci for his opinion on her ankle fracture, Osteochondritis Dissecans and salter harris grade 3 fracture from high level gymnastics . I was worried because we have not had a good experience so far with ortho care in CA where we had great care in CO. We saw a doctor a week ago who was supposed to be an ankle specialist and after charging us almost $400 he just literally gave us a card to see someone else.
