I love Starved Rock from driving through to going inside the lodge. There's always something to do there, from just stopping by to actually spending the night in the lodge or an amazing cabin! The food is delicious and the visitor center is great too! I love the rustic smell of the fire place and the gift shops have very nice apparel and more! The walking sticks are great!! Now take some time and plan a trip to Starved Rock Lodge!!
My parents went there on their honeymoon when it first opened. Many years later it became a weekend retreat for the whole family to relax and unwind. It's only a 45 minute drive away and it's still our favorite place. Whether for a day of hiking or a day to sit back and relax with a good book I'd highly recommend it. Come sit in front of the fireplace in the winter or enjoy lunch on the patio in the summer it's worth the trip. Hope you enjoy!

I do agree with a different comment about the mandatory gratuity, 25% would be too much for a buffet service. And yes the two girls on the heelie skates were everywhere. Bad parenting
Was taken there for my birthday meal this morning, and I was far from impressed at the quality of the food on the brunch buffet. Eggs were obviously reconstituted, meats were dried out and nearly cold even after a fresh batch was added, and the desserts were horribly too sweet. The place was packed, and there were kids running around unattended in the dining area with wheeled shoes on, making it hard to safely get to the buffet in the first place, yet no one spoke to them or their parents. For what was spent on the meal the ... read more
