Worst experience ever. Went to the er because my wife was in A LOT of pain. The man at the desk who checked us in, Patrick, was rude and very unprofessional. He kept interrupting my wife as she was trying to answer his questions. We sat in a check-in room for more than an hour with my wife in pain that she described as a 10 and NOT ONE person came to check on her condition or update us on when we might get to a room to see a nurse or doctor. Used to always go here then switched to Stormont Vail due to the lack of professionalism, attitudes of ER personnel, time it took to see a Dr. Took my granddaughter there the other day because that's where her records were and her Dr is. St Francis Dr....HUGE MISTAKE...ALL THE REMODELING TO THE ER HASN'T MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF. I've yet to have a good experience here. Every visit to their emergency room is more infuriating than the last. I once spent 8 hours in an EMPTY emergency room with a friend who had a severe reaction to a brown recluse bite, and an additional 8 hours in actual treatment. He couldn't move his arm when we got to the er and by the time he was seen he was blacking out and seizing. That was just the beginning of the horror story. ABSOLUTELY TOPS. THE most caring and professional nurses, doctors and staff. I received so much encouragement to get started and stay on my road to recovery. Honest in their answers to all my many questions.
I have never been in a hospital where I felt like I was anything other than another person in a building. Today, while accompanying my sister to her appts at the St Francis Cancer Center, that changed. Let's just say Topeka has a better choice of medical on 10th street!!
I have had my last 3 surgeries at St Frances. I have nothing but praise for the facility. The staff was very knowledgeable and compassionate. I don't even know where to start about the confidence and respect I have for my surgeons.
