Emergency Entrance, 919 E 32nd St, Austin, TX, 78705, United States
Get directionsMy mother entered into the hospital on July 22 after a bad fall. On July 23, she had emergency brain surgery to remove a subdural hematoma. Somewhere between the 28 and 30 of July, the hospital staff lost her glasses. My mother was very out of it while she was at the hospital so naturally could not be responsible for keeping track of her glasses. We were not allowed to visit because of Covid and therefore didn’t realize her glasses went missing and were switched with another pair until A few weeks later when we were finally ... read more

This preferred provider agreement with air methods led to a 30 minute wait for a critical care patient transfer when there were 4 other closer aircraft including 2 air methods aircraft. One was on its way back to base and the other was intentionally delaying to take a transport for another hospital system.... saving money again eh?

So far not impressed. I am thinking they must be understaffed. The nurse my mom has is kind and seems competent; just have t seen her much. I have spent a lot of time in hospital over the past couple of years and expected the same care at all. Please consider requiring nurse to check on patients more often at a minimum.

Our nightmare began at 4:30am on August 21, 2020 and is ongoing. The patient lay in the ER for so many hours his appendix burst. The phone in the room is never answered, nor the phone at the nurses' station. We are not allowed to visit. It's the weekend and Administration is not available. The doctors are not available. The nightmare continues.
Business response:
Glenda, thank you for sharing your experience. We completely understand how frustrating that must have been to not be able to visit and feel detached from your loved one in the ER. We would like to look into what happened. Could you please call our patient advocate? Her name is Patricia and she can be reached at (702) 916- 9173. We also sent your review to our admin team so they are aware. We look forward to speaking with you.

Absolutely phenomenal with COVID patients!! Truly believe the staff and exceptional doctors saved my mom! I thought we lost her, yesterday she took my hand in both hers, lifted my hand to her mouth, and kissed it!!! Sent to a LTC facility to wean off the ventilator. We are praying she can return to SDGH for her rehabilitation! No better place, we trust them!
