I was looking for a place in Reading to go to with some folks visiting from out of state and wanted to treat them to either Penna. Dutch cuisine or dinner in a landmark or historic building. Speckled Hen ended up really hitting the mark! How often do you get to dine in an 18th Century log cabin? Not only was the character of the building exactly what I was looking for, the dishes were worth driving from Pottsville for. We were there to hear Glenn Hofmann n Jim meck.... Awesome place, great food n prices....bread pudding.. OMG! :)
The food was very good but a little pricey. Needs a bigger menu and Coke for mixed drinks. Loved the setting and atmosphere of this 18th century house. This place is a gold mine but waiting an hour for your food is why I gave the rating I did.

Great meal. Surprisingly inexpensive. Get the Scottish egg appetizer.
Feels like hanging out in an old timey log cabin, because it is. Excellent food, friendly staff, and colorful locals. Open Mic night on Thursdays is a great time, you will surely be entertained.
