Declare the Winner – The Bread Pudding at South Street is the best in Nashville, Tennessee, and these United States. I have tried them all over the country including many New Orleans haunts and none compare.
Great Find! – We stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch as they were setting up for a music festival across the street. My husband and I loved the restaurant. It was casual and had a very local feeling to it. Our waitress was really friendly and gave us advice on what to see and do in the area. I order the crab cake platter, and what can I say - they almost outdid the crabcakes I used to have when I lived in Baltimore. All in all, a great place!
Disappointed – I've eaten at South Street at least 7-8 times in last 3 years and always found it a pleasant experenience. Went last Sat evening. Waitress was terrible - distracted, forgetful. She recommended crab cake dinner - said it had no mayonaisse and little breading and spiceyness depended on who was cooking that night. A couple of us ordered and found it VERY bready and definitely not worth $18. It was apparent that dinners had sat under a warmer for awhile (sweet potatoes had a crust!) A great find! – Being from up north we wanted a unique southern style restaurant for our stay in Nashville. This place delivers! Atmosphere was lively without being noisy, great selection of beers, awesome array of dinner items. I highly recommend the shrimp appetizers (any of them). I felt like I was down in New Orleans. We'll definitely be back when we return to Nashville.
