Fun Place with Good Food – I've never had a bad experience at South Street. It's a fun place with good seafood. Also, it's one of the few places in Nashville that serves raw oysters. They stay open late (til 3am) and have a late-night menu. The upstairs "treehouse" is fantastic in spring, summer, and fall. I recommend trying to get a seat up there. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I
Great food & service – We were looking for something different from the same old, same old that we always go to so we thought we would check out South Street. The food was great! Our server was very attentive, checking back frequently to see how we were doing. We had a variety of dishes and they were all very good. My husband's only complaint was that his rib/shrimp platter was a bit sparse but my daughter ordered the pumped chicken and it was a half a chicken so hubby was full before we left after eating the rest of her chi... read more
Great Oysters – Haven't been here in quite awhile. Brought some California friends who were dying for oysters. It was a Monday night and was surprisingly crowded. The host was more than a little gruff but the waitress and food were great. Oysters were the best I've had in Nashville in a long time and the out-of-towners loved it.
Always feel valued and welcome! – I go for the smokin thighs and the southern onion dressing. awesome! Further, if Jesse is working, sit at his bar and prepare to be entertained with a witty personality, top-notch skills and great conversation. If manager David is on duty, he'll surely stop by to check on your well-being. These two cats make the place! I go every chance I get.
HORRIBLE!!! – My wife and I were asking around for a seafood place while in Nashville and this came highly recommended. Boy was that guy wrong. We wanted a more intimate sit down place and this is the opposite. I looked at the menu and it seemed tasty, hoping the food would match the prices...NO WAY. Our server must have been having the worst day of her life because she was rude, unattentive, and came by only once after we were served. Not to mention they got my wife's order wrong. I found myself waiting for 10 minutes befor... read more
Awesome breakfast! – I've eaten here a lot as it's close to school. Their breakfast is awesome especially their hash browns. service is excellent and if they're really busy, they are very apologetic, so can't dock them on that. their beer always tastes cold and fresh.
Spring/Fall yes....Summer/Winter no – Well I better explain. This is a great restaurant it really is. If you can get a table up in the treehouse its great. If you can go when the weather is nice its perfect here. We have been every season and Spring and Fall are best. When its summer this restaurant is hot...Winter very cold. It is very crowded and very very loud. You get shuffled in and out no room at some of the tables. BUT if you are looking for fun and good seafood in Nashville for the price this is it. Forget the rest o... read more
Good variety. – Large menu with tons of variety from New Orleans favorites, to seafood, to American fare. The place can be sort of grungy though. The prices are overpriced because of the "trendy" area.
Slurp oysters and sip beer in this swinging tree house. – In Short A breeze reminiscent of spring break on the Redneck Riviera blows in through rolled-up garage door windows both upstairs and down at this restaurant decorated like a treehouse. The menu offers gritty Gulf Coast cuisine designed to cure the munchies. Oysters are cold, fresh and straight from Louisiana. The diverdillas--open-face tortillas--are deliciously and deceptively akin to thin-crust pizza. Side items include slaw, white beans and Cuban corn, while one d... read more
