Floor-to-ceiling glass doors line the street side of Sonsie and remain open during the summer, making this a great spot for Newbury Street people-watching. The chic atmosphere suits the hipsters who visit in the evening, but afternoons are quiet and relaxed. The chef serves a tasty mix of American and Italian cuisines. The staff is particularly attentive, and they take pride in their mixed drinks behind the bar. Patrons can enjoy lunch or dinner or just drinks or coffee and dessert.

User review by boedladam – This was a pretty good place, I'm more a fan of their wine list than the food but to each his own. The atmosphere is nice, a place to have a nice meal, a drink, and a conversation, especially during the week when its less busy.
User review by airmarkos – Good food quality but too pretentious. If you go for weekend brunch, be prepared to wait for at least half hour. In order to pump their image, they purposely make you wait even if tables are available. I went there for brunch with a friend, and asked for a table for two. They said the waiting time was 15-20 minutes, so we waited. When 20 minutes passed, she said "I'm checking my list, you will be seated soon". It took another 10 minutes, for a total of 30, to eventually have us sit in a table that ... read more
A little bit snooty, but good food! My friend and I recently went to Sonsie and were seated at a coveted window seat on Newbury Street. People watching was fun there, but the attitudes of the staff at Sonsie leave much to be desired. They are a bit aloof and snooty. On the other hand, the food was excellent. I had a couscous and vegetable dish that was just AWESOME! Some things on the menu were a bit pricey, but there was a plethora of entrées under $20 to be had as well.
Yummy Romantic Dinner A great restaurant on the side of Newbury closest to Mass Ave. the food is absolutely delicious and can please just about everyone. You can get anything to wood grilled pizza, various seafood dishes, and fun asian meals. With a darker, candlelit atmosphere, it's a perfect place for a date. we made a reservation, so I'm not sure how difficult it is to get a table normally, but we were brought to our seats upon arriving. Highly recommend!

Nice Place to Eat at The restaurant says that it serves international foods, but for me it seemed that most of the items on the menu of more of an Italian feel. The food is excellent and the atmosphere provides a nice dining experience. The music that is played for your dining pleasure is pleasant. The price of the food is average, for a restaurant of this class. If you are in the area you should definitely try it.
Great Night! – I was in last night with a friend for dinner and love the seared Tuna. When we sat the Hostess informed us that the menu had changed for the season. I was a bit upset as I was thinking of Tuna all day but when my server came to the table (I forgot her name) she eased my pain a bit telling me there was a seared Tuna appetizer that evening and then went on to make a couple of great recommendations. We were both very impressed having worked in restaurants before learning a menu that large is no easy feat but she ... read more
Good food I love eating at Sonsie. A friend and I regularly visited Sonsie for lunch or dinner. It's great to sit in the front area and talk. Good food that can be expensive. It's all worth it though. If you've got the money or want to splurge, this is a place to go.
overrated, but still great. restaurants that are highly touted always leave you with something to be desired. sonsie has a strong, elite following, and most tourists are told to visit this restaurant if they're looking for trendy, quality dining downtown. in the few times that i have eaten there, i find sonsie to be loud, crowded, and always busy its certainly a place to be seen and to socialize. i personally prefer restaurants that are quiet and relaxing, but the advertised mood of sonsie is exactly what you get during your... read more
