Sonsie

4.1

About this business

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors line the street side of Sonsie and remain open during the summer, making this a great spot for Newbury Street people-watching. The chic atmosphere suits the hipsters who visit in the evening, but afternoons are quiet and relaxed. The chef serves a tasty mix of American and Italian cuisines. The staff is particularly attentive, and they take pride in their mixed drinks behind the bar. Patrons can enjoy lunch or dinner or just drinks or coffee and dessert.

where beautiful people people eat beautiful food – If you want want to sample the best french and american cuisine, catch up on the lastest in fashion , and observe the ultra beautiful in action check out Sonsie. The fine array of gorgeous people, martini selection and coffe bar will intrigue the new patron, but the food will bring back even the most die-hard anti-trendy or anyone sufferring from an "I'm not worthy" complex. Try any of the chicken dishes and the chocolate bread pudding is to die for. If you're not one to mix... read more

User review by boedladam – This was a pretty good place, I'm more a fan of their wine list than the food but to each his own. The atmosphere is nice, a place to have a nice meal, a drink, and a conversation, especially during the week when its less busy.

User review by airmarkos – Good food quality but too pretentious. If you go for weekend brunch, be prepared to wait for at least half hour. In order to pump their image, they purposely make you wait even if tables are available. I went there for brunch with a friend, and asked for a table for two. They said the waiting time was 15-20 minutes, so we waited. When 20 minutes passed, she said "I'm checking my list, you will be seated soon". It took another 10 minutes, for a total of 30, to eventually have us sit in a table that ... read more

Great Night! – I was in last night with a friend for dinner and love the seared Tuna. When we sat the Hostess informed us that the menu had changed for the season. I was a bit upset as I was thinking of Tuna all day but when my server came to the table (I forgot her name) she eased my pain a bit telling me there was a seared Tuna appetizer that evening and then went on to make a couple of great recommendations. We were both very impressed having worked in restaurants before learning a menu that large is no easy feat but she ... read more

Loved It! – I have been going to Sonsie since I moved to Boston 5 years ago and the service and food has always been consistently excellent. Last week was no different - I went in with my girlfriends for dinner and had such a great time. The server was knowledgable about the menu and wines but also was a lot of fun. She even gave us great suggestions on what to do that night and we ended up heading down to Lansdowne St. to the clubs.

Absolutely shocking – We went to Sonsie last night and were shocked to have one of the worst dining experiences ever. The bartenders are interested in each other not the customers. The waiter zipped by once or twice and didn't stand still for long enough for us to tell him that my wine was bad and that our oysters were warm and fishy. When we were ready to leave, we waited 15 minutes for him to come back to pick up our credit card and run the bill. The entrees (thankfully) were very good; however the terrible service combine... read more

Great Place to Eat – I thought the entire evening was a great experience from the martinis to the desserts! Everyone in my party couldn't say enough about the food. The service was attentive but not stuffy like some upscale restaurants can be. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu and was extremely friendly and personable. I felt so comfortable -almost like I was eating at a friend's house. I will be going back to Sonsie often and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for great food in a fun... read more
