On May 3, 1912 ( 3 weeks after the sinking of the Titanic ) Frank & Rose Snock opened the 1st Snockey's at 142 South St. in Philadelphia. Rose Snock was pregnant at the time as fate would have it, she gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Jean, on the 2nd floor of their newly opened oyster house. What a cozy restaurant with a very friendly staff. The variety of oysters blew me away, I have never been to a oyster bar with such a vast variety. I will keep this place on my list of things to do next time I visit Philadelphia.
