I entered this program in August 2020 with 71K in debt, 7 different accounts. The monthly interest and fees on these accounts was around $1,400 a month, and this was compounding. Around a month after I signed up and all the creditors had been notified the interest, late fees, and high balance fees we stopped. Im not going to go through the whole story but I will say this , I am presently being sued by a large credit card company who are going to garnish my wages. In the meantime I have the money in the account that is set up with their partner. They had assigned a lawyer who did absolutely nothing in a timely fashion, then suddenly up and quit. So I called in with a wage garnishment paper a month ago and thats how I found out I had a different lawyer for this creditor. Please do not use this company! They take early 60% of your payment in fees, they will get you taken to court and they wont represent you, so if you dont realise this then you land up with judgements against you. Terrible customer service, never respond to calls, frequently lose documents you submit, I could go on. Please just get a proper attorney if youre in serious trouble or speak to your creditors yourself, I wish I had!
They are currently representing me and they dropped the ball on providing a representative lawyer in court. They asked me for additional fees and I have paid over 12k into their pocket. They have yet to close a single case!!! Warning ??
This company does NOT have lawyers on staff full time as I was led to believe. Instead they have a network of associates who are contacted and ASKED to take on your case. These lawyers may decline! Then, you are on your own. Inever got a follow up. The client must do ALL the leg work. Their "portal" only allows you to add more money or upload litigation documents. This company acts in unethical business practices. They are all words and NO ACTION. There is enough money in my "account" to completely pay off my last two accounts and they have done nothing. Slate did not help at all. I had to represent myself when served by ******************* I wish I had just used a debt counseling company. They charge nothing and get the same results! Slate was a huge waste of money!
Yes, Slate Law is a total scam and a gang of thieves. They charged me an inordinate amount of fees and completely botched my case. The situation is similar to the one described by Vigilante ** It would be good to join forces to go after them. There seems to be no way to message each other on this site. I have been in this program for over 13 months, Pay $1240 per month and paid over $9000 in fees. Come to find out that they take THEIR fees before they even start to negotiate. I have had one negotiation completed with 5 others still left. They communicated that they would take my $93K in debt, and negotiate down to $65K at the end of 4.5 years (give or take a couple months earlier or later depending on their negotiating strategies).
