Being a programer and web developer I am asked on a daily basic about sitelock. After my own Site was hacked (PHISHING ) I decided to get sitelock on my own site. After I thought my site was set up with sitelock guess what it was hacked again. I did not get any notifications from sitelock what so ever to let me know that there was malicious files on my server. I strongly believe they are in cahoots with the host bluehost in some way and had malware put on my account. I'm hopeful that some authority can catch them in the act. They hide extra costs in forms they want signed and only verbally tell you a smaller monthly fee. Then when you want to cancel they say you have to pay a termination fee and use collections type tactics to get you to pay. Please someone needs to get a class action suit.

I was e-mailed several times over the course of a week regarding my domains having malware on them. As e-mails like this are a common way to solicit information from people, I promptly ignored them. Then I got a call from SiteLock telling me my sites had a specific type of malware that was taking over what my site looked like. My hosting service uses SiteLock. I received an email from SiteLock telling me that one of my sites was infected with malware. I continued to receive emails and by the end of the week SiteLock said all 21 of my sites were infected. NOTE - THE MAJORITY OF MY DOMAINS ARE EITHER REDIRECTS OR USED FOR EMAIL PURPOSES ONLY - THERE ARE NO ACTUAL FILES ON ANY SERVER ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! Sitelock may perform a useful service, but be wary of giving them your credit card information. When you sign on for the paid service, Sitelock: 1) hides (makes it difficult to find) the fact that they default auto-renew (you can't sign up without agreeing to have them automatically bill your credit card every year); 2) hides (makes it difficult to find) how to stop auto-renew: a) you can't just stop auto-renew from your billing panel, the way you can with reputable businesses; b) you have to hunt their web site for a link (... read more

Just like many other people, I got automatically signed up with this sitelock company because they are partners with big names in hosting. So one of my websites got infected really bad, I went to chat with their missleading support, that claimed they can clean up etc and they presented their Smart scan option, which I thought is a good idea so I ordered it for 5 of my websites.
