However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. My daughters and I were there last Sunday before a concert and not only was the staff very friendly, but extremely helpful. During our visit it started raining very hard (and pretty much sideways). Staff was out and helping immediately to roll down the window coverings and also dry tables and benches. Food was great as always but it was so nice to have helpful staff as well!
We are on day 14 of a 16 day vacation and this was the BEST restaurant we visited. The food was great, the atmosphere was fun (despite rain) but the staff far outshined other restaurants! We had a thunderstorm during our dinner. My father walks with a cane, so leaving the restaurant meant he was going to get very wet on his slow walk to the car. The staff didn't hesitate to offer any assistance they could! I highly recommend The Silo!
The Haystack is the BOMB!!!
Four of us had lunch: $65 Two burgers ($10 each), a hotdog, fish n chips, small bowl of chili, order of fries, soft drinks. The small bowl of chili obviously Hormel was $4.95. Place is loud. Staff needs to pay more attention to cleaning tables and floors. Won't be rushing back.
Great Food at a Great Price
can't beat the view and the Haystack is still the best.
