After a recent stay at this hospital I will go to Sarasota Memorial if possible in the future. ER care was good, but they stated in medical records that family was with me and updated on my status. Hmmmm I was there by myself! Discharge papers state I was taken by wheelchair downstairs accompanied by family member. I walked down and was by myself. Once admitted the care on 3 south horrible. I entered into a payment agreement for more than the minimum monthly. The hospital has been automatically drafting their payments. Today I got a collection notice and got a HUGE runaround. They made a mistake and would not correct it nor honor the payment plan they agreed to. Fearing harassment from a collection agency, I paid off the remaining balance in full, so now I have to cash in part of my retirement so that I don't have to pay interest on the credit card. Hm I've had lots and lots of issues with this hospital. One of the biggest things I've noticed lately since having to come here a few times this week. There are such ABSOLUTELY RUDE, nasty volunteers that work at the check-in. Three times in a row, I was shouted at for no reason. I don't have time to be yelled at by somebody who volunteers I have stage IV cancer and I can always go elsewhere and if that's what administration wants I will do so. While typing this the woman just came over and was rude again.
I had an outpatient surgery a week ago at Venice Regional Bayfront Health. The care was exceptional. From the woman who checked me in, to the nurses who prepped me and those who cared for me before and after my surgery, all did a fantastic job. We are very lucky to have this hospital in our community.
At no time did we have a "patient hospitalist" or "advocate" or even have a real DOCTOR coordinating all the ins and outs of my husband's test result or diagnosis following his stroke. Luckily there was a male nurse named Earl who worked to get us discharge papers so we could leave. Very disappointed with the lack of patient coordination -- never even saw a chart!! Thank yous go to Earl and also a administrative person named Chris for responding to our concerns and paper work issues.
Hats off to the entire staff on 3 South. My father Peter Stylianoudakis has serious medical issues and lives in Miami. As hurricane Erma was approaching, I decided to bring my parents on this coast. As the storm started to approach, my dad's condition decline and was brought to Venice Regional. During his one week stay the entire staff was amazing with their kindness, and willingness to assist him. Thank you for caring.
