About this business
Shoreline Sightseeing, established in 1939, began with one vessel offering Lake Michigan Boat Tours showcasing Chicago's fabulous skyline. Now in our third generation of family ownership and operation and in our 77th season. Shoreline Sightseeing has a fleet of ten touring vessels and nine water taxis. In 1996, we brought the first water taxis to Chicago. All our touring vessels have been custom built or custom modified to offer our passengers the highest standards of comfort and safety.

A friend recommended this tour when he found out my adult daughter and I would be visiting Chicago. We bought the Chicago GO pass and this was included and it was awesome. We learned so much about the buildings and builders and area history from a guide that was entertaining AND educational!! It was fun to walk around the city afterwards and know a little about each iconic building. Highly recommend.
Had a great time once we found where to buy the boat ride tickets ( that was the most difficult part!). The ride was fun and informative!
Had a great time aboard, despite the chilly temp. Jim was great and we learned a ton. We did the 75 minute architectural tour. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting the city (and anyone who already lives here who hasn't experienced!). Will definitely be back! 👍

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Chicago by sea! The Captain was awesome and we learned so much from Ben our tour guide! He was so knowledgable about the history of Chicago...first and Second Cities! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the best city in the US! I'd recommend as a 'must do' for anyone coming to Chicago. The boat provides some great vistas (... and photo opportunities!) of the stunning buildings. It's always great to hear a talented natural communicator talk with knowledge and enthusiasm about a subject they clearly love. My husband brought me to Chicago for a surprise birthday trip! It was my first time there! We just did this yesterday & a boat ride was a great way to see some of the city & learn some about it, especially for a short trip like ours. We did the architectural tour! Very nice! The whole staff was great! The tour guide Jim was fantastic!! Plus you get your picture made at the beginning & can get a 3 photo package for $20.
