Arigato – we always eat at the bar, as we are not so sure of what the names of the dishes are, plus we had couple bad experiences with the service in the booths. The Sushi Chef is very nice and always workout some combinations for us. The decor is kinda of outdated, but we go there for the Sushi not the decor. Too bad it is kinda costly but thenagain: Great sushi!!!

Pleasantly Surprised! – I did not expect to find such fresh sushi in SLC coming from NYC but was pleasantly surprised. The fish and ingredients were so fresh and delicate. The special rolls were flavored with perfection. My colleague and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to enjoy dinner there. Service was attentive and friendly however the decor could be updated slightly to reflect a more modern decor. You also get 2 pieces of sushi for the price! Good deal if you ask me.

Not just the sushi! – The sushi is wonderfully made and rewarding to the taste buds, but you have to consider all the other food items as well. We seem to go to Shogun more than we do some of the other Japanese restaurants and sushi bars. Yes, as you said the interior won't wow anyone, but...some of the best tasting sushi bars in Tokyo won't wow you either, but the food definately remains on the mind.

Shogun, means expensive, not good food. – Last month I went Shogun, to get some California rolls and some Unagi. I was also craving Katsu Don. A dinner for four people, who all had the same thing came to 77 dollars. For that kind of money I expect something extradorinary. I would rather go to one of the other sushi restaurants in this fine city.

Best sushi in town... – I have been to almost every sushi joint in town, and Shogun is by far the best sushi in SLC! While a die-hard Ichiban fan until recently, Shogun consistently offers menu items that are unique to Shogun, such as Toro, Bluefin, Amber Jack, and Spannish Mackeral. While I usually prefer nigiri and sashimi, I highly recommend the Tiger Woods Roll and the excellent Miso soup with some sake! Personally, I always request Takashi to prepare his "Omakase" menu (Chef's Choice) and let him decide what is best tha... read more

A Fun Experience – Shogun lies somewhere between those glossy Japanese hot spots and a hole in the wall. It's got private rooms, but the lack of windows and it's location keep it from obtaining the flare of others around town. The food is great, though, and I've never had a bad piece of sashimi here.

Great lunchtime alternative – Shogun usually gets quite crowded at lunchtime, so get there early if you can. Though the interior is windowless and dim, the atmosphere is fairly welcoming. The sushi and rolls are expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Parking is a problem if you're headed downtown for dinner--park a few blocks away and take Trax.
