Best in Salt Lake – It's our favorite restaurant. What I can't figure out is how one reviewer can go there and spend $77 for four! And then complain about it! If we fill up and have a couple of drinks, it's $100. Reasonable for quality like Shogun.
The location and interior won't wow anyone, but the sushi certainly will. – The Scene Small tatami rooms are available in addition to open tables. You'll miss the best part of the restaurant, however, if you don't sit at the sushi bar. The sushi chef is a genuinely friendly guy, and the service is gracious. Perhaps that's why the place is often filled with regulars. The Food Sushi mainstays and exotic delicacies are always served at their pristine best. You can also order standard Japanese fare, but the sushi takes the spotl... read more
Authenticity Plus! – I've been eating sushi at this restaurant since 1985 when it was called Asakusa and was under entirely different ownership, so I've seen it through many incarnations. Today the place is probably as could as it's ever been. The head chef Takashi is truly a master. The fish is always high quality, service always friendly and prompt, and the prices reasonable. Typically I don't eat many rolls, but my favorite menu item has become Takashi's own creation Caribe roll. It's a must try. It's a spicy Hamachi with... read more
My favorite restaurant. – Shogun is my favorite Japanese restaurant. The prices arent outlandish, the food is great, and the service is superb. I would readily recommend it to anyone.
The best – Shogun has great sushi, a nice atmosphere, and decent prices. It should definitely rank before Happy Sumo. Happy Sumo is decent but they don't deliver the same quality or service.
Best Sushi Bar – This is the best sushi in town. Takashi is a great chef. The fish is always fresh and the service is prompt. I have been to other sushi bars around town and I always get the best nigiri, sashimi, and rolls here.
Sho Me the Sushi! – As many good sushi places (surpising, isn't it?!) as we have in this town--Kyoto, Ginza to name a couple--I still dig Shogun the most. Wide variety allows for a pleasurable and diversified evening. Good local beer adds a great compliment and some of the dishes are not bad either.
"Best" by Japanese native – Shogun's sushi is the best in Salt Lake. They serve sushi as it should be. It is definitely worth your time and money. Ask for Sushi Chef Mike. He is the best!
Rolled Away – The rolls are amazing, unique and affordable. The service at the sushi bar is always excellent and the fish is always fresh and tasty. There is usually something new on the specials list for the adventurous.
