There were many estimates that came in far lower than what I was charged. A reputable, national carrier (that Sheridan Books used to ship me an order previously) came in at about $800 less! Part 1 of 2 Bottom line up front: Sheridan Books charged me $1,100 more than my initial estimate for 30 less books. I'll start with the good: in the end, my book order was received and the books are of good quality. That's what the two stars are based on. So kudos to the people that actually make the books -- it's unfortunate that the rest of the company is not up to your standards. I am with Tom D. I had a very similar experience. They held my job hostage until I went to the State to get them a cert that says I am tax free. If you have had to do this, you know what comes next. Suddenly, you're interesting to them, in my case they discovered they had lost our 2013 and 2014 tax returns, so we had to make copies, stand in line at the Post Office for 40 minutes to send the State the tax returns they should never have lost and would never have missed but for Sheridan insisting on their cert. For more than fifteen years, our press, Aqueduct Press, has printed all of our major books through Thomson-Shore. But T-S went bankrupt in April and outstanding printing jobs were taken over by Sheridan Books. As I explain below, working with Shreidan has been a nightmare! We had a relatively small printing job (around 750 copies) scheduled for release on May 16, and paid in advance.
