I have been living at Hampton House for almost a year and it is by far the best property I have lived in both NYC and DC. The apartment is lovely - high ceilings, wood floors, lots of light. It is an old building so the walls are nice and thick, and I can’t hear my neighbors at all. No pest problems. The owner takes a lot of pride in the properties because they are family owned - you aren’t dealing with some nameless, faceless company. I spent the last 5 years at 2700 Connecticut Ave NW and I absolutely loved it here. The only reason I am leaving is because my partner and I bought a condo in NE DC. We were absolutely spoiled by the location of 2700- it is literally across the street of the Woodley Park elevator. Our rent was very reasonable for the area because it is a rent controlled building. It will be tough to find a better value than this.

Shapiro & Company were by far the best property management company I have ever had! I lived at the Hampton House for just over a year and during that time, they always responded to maintenance requests promptly and went above and beyond for their residents. My one-bedroom was spacious and had a ton of character. The common spaces in the building were always kept incredibly clean. Lew and everyone who works for Shapiro & Company are so kind and helpful.
