Established in 1978, Shank's Mare Outfitters is located in an historic 1880's General store building on the banks of the Susquehanna River. Our 10 retail rooms feature clothing and gear for kayaking, walking and hiking, and cross country skiing and snowshoeing. A wide range of outdoor accessories compliments our great selection of products in a truly unique Outfitters Shop. We also offer a full calender of lessons, trips, tours, kids camps, and field trips.

I have watched the Susquehanna River Heritage plans morp from the US Department of Interior designation as a National Landmark, failed attempt, to a PA Heritage Park. designation, successful attempt. If your do not respect the river history since the 1970's, engage and learn! Leadership does not easily. Get involved!
Top notch customer service, friendly staff - just an all-around awesome store. An excellent resource for all things paddling related whether it is kayak fishing, SUP, flat water and whitewater.
Outstanding customer service! They kept me updated on the status of my kayak and even though Jackson had some problems on their end the team at Shanks Mare made sure everything was taken care of right and fast! The staff are very knowledgeable with anything kayaking, I will be a life long customer, you can count on that!
