Thank you! The amount of individual counseling I got at Serenity Acres helped me understand why I used and what I needed to do to change my way of living. I found in my one on one counseling the reason that I, as an individual, made decisions to be the catalyst for the change in my perspective. I thought that I was not meant for a sober life, but after coming here I know I was wrong.

Change From the moment I entered the door at Serenity Acres, I felt very welcome and finally in a place that I belonged. The staff and clients were supportive and very understanding. The environment provided me with a safe place to start my new life. The facility is gorgeous and very peaceful. The koi pond was peaceful to sit by. I feel like I have learned to grow, love myself again, have clarity, be open minded, and be more independent.

Grateful Both of my counselors did an amazing job working with me. They taught me how to meditate, mend family relationships, and how to accept that a power greater than myself actually exists. I feel like over time, I can mend relationships with my family and friends. They also helped me work on how I react to certain situations, how to control my anger, how to talk to my mother, and a million other important things. My Experience Serenity Acres allows for the addict and alcoholic like myself to truly grow in the areas of life in which I was lacking. As with all treatment facilities, a structured curriculum is set in place to go over addiction, its stages, its affects and more or less clinical approach. Sobriety My biggest change I have seen is probably understanding the situation, my consequences, and being willing to change for the better. I’m tired of letting close ones to me down. Also, I am tired of losing everything I own, like my friends, money, and most importantly my mind. I want to be the best person I can be and be a positive example of someone coming from the lowest level of life to the top. I foresee the inspiration I could be to all the people around me. My life is like a book and here comes the happy ending.

Recovery Improvement in physical health and mental clarity was the first change while at Serenity Acres. More subtle, and over time through counseling, was the identification of major issues I needed to address. In addition, there was the realization and acceptance by me that I needed to make positive behavioral changes in recovery to be a better person and to restore my relationships with my wife and children. Combined, the above plus my recovery plan will also improve my chances of remaining sober.

Stay Sober My stay at Serenity Acres was life changing. I learned how to STAY sober; and was taught how to deal with my stress, anxiety, self-esteem, and my past. One of the biggest changes I have seen in myself is that I am able to actually function without drugs, and I became open to suggestions. Serenity Acres taught me how to LIVE again, and continue down the path of recovery.
