Anyone that gives this place a good review is either NOT who they say they are, or someone from the facility. I STILL have nightmares of the HORRIFIC "care" they gave my brother. This place is HELL! He passed away last August and I fully blame this place. i caught them several times lying, they are not compassionate, only care about beds being filled, and keep patients drugged so they can't function. It you have a loved one that needs physical therapy please do not send them to the Select Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. My wife was there for 23 days, each day she woke up each morning and went to sleep each night cold and in pain. The first day she asked the doctor to make the room warmer, he said he will check on it. The next day he came to the room and told my wife "I can't do anything about the room temperature". my son was on a trach paralze from the neck down due to a lack of theraphy which he was suppose to receive. Well the trach was suppose to come out of him, after a swallow test. well the reults came in the tyherspist which gave him the test, i was there told him, he did not pass the swallow test and he will die with it. I found my beloved brother on 1 January critically ill. When he told me he had never had his appendix removed, was vomiting into a pail and had a huge bloated abdomen, I call 911 immediately. I instructed the paramedics to him to Deaconess Hospital. My brother had ruptured appendix for four days. The doctors had to cut him vertically as well as horizontally, remove the rotting ascending colon, put in a colostomy bag and clean out his intestines due to septic shock. This is the worse hospital ever. I tried for months to have my brother who has an intellectually disability taken for further testing in Nov. at a better tech and upper tier hospital, I was being told was it was a process, now because of them my brother's cancer spread aggressively. If he had been taken in Nov. maybe the better hospital could have found it sooner and maybe prolonged his life and let him come home but they refused to transport him. I spent the better part of a month at Select in Johnstown with lymes disease and a full heart block. I needed help to walk and was quite restricted to what i could do. I've had several back operations which more than complicated things. In the entire time I was there, I experienced total professionalism and kindness. Kerri and her staff , should be very proud ! also my mom Sharon was able to get out of her restrains and fall out of bed, the staff apparently didn't pay attention to her bed alarm, she was bed ridden for over a month at this point.
My mother Sharon was placed here in November 2024, some of the staff were nice but most times she was left to sit in her own waste, she had a tractotomy and she was restrained and unable to use the call button because of this she developed a bed sore and the nurses and CNA's were not gentle when cleaning her up, she would cry because it hurt so much. This is the worst place to put anyone that can't talk, they didn't always put her talk tube in so she could have a voice. When visiting her, the woman in the next room would ca... read more
They really didn't do much for us. Some of the nurses and aids acted like it was a PAIN TO HELP YOU. Our room was two days without heat and had to clean husbands bed pan twice because they just left it dirty in bathroom very little physical therapy.
