I was there for about 30days maybe 45 days After transferring from KU for 3months. Like any and every service driven industry like hospitals or restaurants what makes a place good is the food and the service ..... Working a temporary position here and the Leadership and staff members are phenomenal! So caring, great teamwork, great communication, and outstanding quality outcomes. I would recommend anyone to work here and any patient in need of LTACH services to come here.Â
I’ve never been to a hospital that had so many loving Doctors and caring nurses and nurse tech in my whole life. They treat you like they would do their own loved ones. This hospital does not practice what they promote. They are a medicare sucking scam. You are drugged up, locked in an alarmed bed with an external catheter so they don't need to move or attend to you. In a 7 hour visit not one person other than food delivery ever came in the room. They do not promote mobility in any way shape of form. You are there to die.Â
*** Do your research befor putting your loved one in this facility!!!!!*** My father was intubated then had a tracheotomy due respiratory failure and did over 6 weeks in 2 different ICU's (somerset then altoona). We were told by Altoona that select was our next step that they would get him off the ventilator and do PT and OT. Well there is very minimal PT or OT there. At the direction/advise of her doctors, my wife went from UNC CCU to Specialty Hospital, supposedly for a 2 week stay. She stayed exactly one night before calling me to say that she really wanted to leave. Durham Regional is an old depressing hospital with an obstacle course to even get in. My wife's care was substandard - they did not have all her medications charted, refused to call a doctor, and left her waiting for hours before they got things straightened out. select specialty killed my son i know this for a fact because my son talked to through out the day until 930 pm he had an ameo done they took out 1.5 liters of fluid and he told me he was tired through out the day and i thought maybe from antistepthic then at 930 pm i told him good night blew a kiss good night i knew the morning he would have dyalisis so i waited to hear from him after 1030 am no call until 1045 am for ss to tell me my son was unconsious and not responding for how long no answer my sons stomach was pretrudin... read more
I would like to acknowledge the superb patient care provided by the nurses during the period of May 21 to May 29. Specifically, nurses Hayat, Maya, Christopher (Chris) and Elaine are caring, compassionate, friendly and most importantly go out of the way to get the job done. They are high quality caregivers and I would like to highlight their performance. Please be careful where you take your loves ones to be treated, I had a really bad experience here and no one cares; I have to write this because I do care for other families, please think about it before bringing your family here is all I can tell you, my family member almost dies here. :( too sadÂ
