About this business
This wonderful German bakery has been purveying rich coffee cakes, creamy mousse cakes and a cornucopia of butter cookies since 1911. The tiny space with a few tables and chairs is usually crammed with people trying to decide between the classic Swedish Princess (white cake with raspberry and kirsch custard and marzipan icing) and one of the many delicious French-inspired mousses and tarts. The fresh bread is also terrific, if you can tear yourself away from the Strawberry Romanoff.

great bakery! – i finally went to Schubert's, cause i had to shop on Clement, and i wanted to eat a something good. i have to say, they know how to make good pastries and cookies. i loved their cheese puff. they also had teeny-weeny cookies w/ jam on top...sooo good! i had them w/ milk when i got home. i will be coming here more, now that one of my fave bakeries, Boniere Bakery in Alameda, has their menu w/ the new ownership.
DEEELICIOUS! One of the best places in San Francisco to order some pastries, cakes, cookies and coffee. They sell great mousse cakes and strawberry short cake. They also sell get pastries, one of the best is the Napoleon which is strawberries and custard in a type of crossiant. About half an hour before their closing time they sell many of the pastries for half off. Their cakes are quite pricey but are well worth it.
Excellent pastries and cakes This is a bakery with truly skilled bakers! They have some of the best looking cakes and pastries I have ever seen. This is truly a place that I look forward to stopping by whenever I am in the area. Everything not only looks good, but tastes better! If you are looking for a new dessert to impress friends, this is the place to go. Well worth a trip to the city just for their cakes!
My favorite bakery Located on busy Clement Street, this bakery serves beautiful cakes, breakfast pastries, breads and cookies. It's a tiny shop but still has a few tables for you to dine-in. They also serve coffee. I love the chocolate croissants here. I've tried many but no one beats this place. It has enough chocolate, the outside is flaky and the inside is soft, not dry. The Best Bakery... Hands Down! – Schubert's is the BEST! The cakes are so light, but full of flavor! None of their cakes are too sweet or not sweet enough... they're just PERFECT! Love this place!! – Had a cake tasting for my wedding. All were delicious, but settled on choco mousse and amaretto custard. Subsequent visits included choco mousse cake, MM. Fantastic taste. Great service. Beautiful cakes. Vast selection readily available.
