Excellent restaurant and I love the ambience and beat. My only gripes, we didn’t have a specific waiter. Very frustrating. We had to keep signaling for a waiter. I don’t understand why there is an appetizer called curled zucchini and all you get is two grilled pieces of zucchini. Really disappointed by that, moreover it had no flavor. Great seafood and atmosphere.
Always a pleasure eating at Scales . The oysters, cherry stones and shrimp are just the best . Presentation is wonderful by the lovely gentleman who shucks them . Kevin, great bartender. Very attentive to his customers . The red clam Linguni is delicious . Found this excellent place while having a daughter at Sakve Regina Uninversity. She is long graduated and we are still coming there !
Recently moved back to Newport from Middletown and within walking distance to great restaurants. None greater than this place. Being a seafood lover we will be found here on a regular basis.
Honestly why went to Newport we were wanting a nice traditional restaurant with seafood. Scales and Shells were about the only one open that evening at 5 pm so we ended up eating at the restaurant. We were told the owners had bend Italy and this was their version of an Italian spin on seafood. So the wood fire grill was what was used to cook the lobsters and other food and I wasn’t expecting the lobster to be split down the middle then grilled over the fire.
