I had a root canal by Dr. Edlund last year in Seattle - he not only did an amazing job technically (I base that on low pain and fast recovery, plus he saved my crown!) but he also has great bedside manner: he explained everything he was going to do and was sincerely concerned about my comfort throughout the entire procedure. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Edlund.
