It's ok for brunch – We went expecting amazing food, but the brunch items were just ok. It wasn't bad, but we were slightly disappointed with the food after reading rave reviews. It's a small cozy house, so the noise level is easily escalated when occupied by a few groups. The tables are also pretty close to one another doesn't help. The steak hash was closer to beef stew with eggs on top and served on a plate. The portions are pretty big, so definitely not a light brunch. That being said, we would go back to try other thing... read more
Burned Hair & Lousy Service – So your wife's hair catches fire during dinner by touching an open votive candle on the empty table behind us ? Unbelievably no one from Sagra took note as the entire staff was in the bar watching a football game ! Screams from an adjacent table brought a waiter more concerned about the smell of burnt hair than my wife's safety. A follow up letter to the ownership has been ignored for weeks. Sagra has decent food in a nice environment marred by lousy service and a general lack of interest. Menus... read more
Business response:
I am very sorry that your wife?s hair caught fire in our restaurant. Obviously in our small restaurant during the UT/OU game everyone saw your wife?s hair catch on fire. This has never happened before and we have since this incident (before your scathing review) taken steps to make sure this will never happen again. We obviously did not react in a way you thought was appropriate. Generally customers in our style restaurant do not want the entire staff to rush over. My wife (the other owner) was there, checked on you repeated... read more
Yummy pizza and drinks – I had a late happy hour/dinner with my work team at Sagra earlier this week. They are very close to downtown Austin and had some great happy hour drink and food specials. The pizzas were only $6 and you could easily split one for two people. We had a four cheese pizza with goat cheese that was delicious. I'm not a big fan of goat cheese but I really liked this pizza. They also had a good selection of martinis that were discounted. I think we tried them all! The main dining area is very nice - white t... read more
Great name for a great place – Amazing trattoria not too far from the University. Pizzas are so tasty, the way only in Naples know how to. If you happen to be in Austin you can't defineteley miss Sagra
Definitely go for Brunch – Two of us went for Sunday brunch, which, to our surprise, was not crowded at all, so word might not have gotten out just yet: this is one of the best brunches in Austin. Fresh sourdough bread and delicious home-made blueberry muffins with honey butter were brought to us right away. I ordered the steak hash, comprising marinated chunks of tender hanger steak, sauteed new potatoes and pancetta, topped with two farm eggs over-easy and a drizzle of pesto sauce. The portion was huge, but at no expense o... read more
Glad I gave Sagra another try – I visited Sagra last fall and was disappointed by the service. There were still several kinks that needed to be worked out. Last weekend my husband and I decided to give Sagra another try, and we are really glad we did. The atmosphere, the service, and the food, were all excellent! Both the scallops and rib eye were perfect. Now that the weather is getting cooler, we look forward to having drinks and eating out on the patio. It is a beautiful setting and will be the perfect spot on a cool even... read more
Best Brunch Ever.........All you can drink mimosas – I don?t usually post reviews after I eat at a restaurant for the first time, but I was in such a good mood after brunch that I had to go home and let everyone in on my new favorite restaurant. The food was amazing. Not only did it taste delicious, but the server told me that they only use highest quality ingredients from local merchants. All the food is handled and made in-house, from the bread to the sausage and the ice cream. The setting of the restaurant was very comfor... read more
Good pizza, ambiance - mediocre appetizers – I really liked this place and would recommend it but make sure to go with pizza. I didn't try the entrees but I thought the apps were small and overpiced and although the salad was good it hardly came with any dressing. Overall great spot and good service. Awesome pizza too so I think it is a go!
