Why go anyplace else in austin – This Italian restaurant is a favorite of mine and my husband's. We recommend this place to our friends, and bring people to eat there if they want to go for Italian when in Austin The food is outstanding- large portions at a terrific price. However, there are too many tables jammed into a small area, so it is quite noisy. Sitting outside is a little better, although not very intimate. yum
don't waste your time or money – the service was not bad, however, and especially for the price, the food was not that good. the Frutti de Mare was bland, the calimari was way over breaded and the cheese plate was sparse, and that's being kind. the one thing i couldn't get over was the seating, the chairs were so close i got a butt across the back of my headm everytime someone was seated. and as the waitstaff walked by they kicked my chair legs 3 or 4 times. there are so many restaurants to choose from in austin, this place ... read more
Just like eating in Italy – We were going to a game and decided to try this place. The food was really deliciuos and served in a profesional timely fashion. We were a group of 8, so things could have gone wrong, but everything was really great. All of our appetizers were great, all came on time and were served to the right person without tossing the plates around. Our server was very attentive. We had some great salads, one my friend had was with prociutto, served in a big bowl, very nice presentation. .... It was amazing!!!... read more
Really really good – After 12 years and 3 kids my wife and I are trying to add more "us time" to our marriage. We We had a 6pm seating but got there and 5:45 and were sat right away. We had a very romantic table on the patio next to the. We are not big wine drinkers but both had a glass, nothing expensive, to help set the mood. We both had tortelini soup, and split 2 appetizers. It was very tasty. I had chicken over arugala with thinly sliced proscuitto. It was mouth watering. We both had the chocolate souffle with vanilla i... read more
love it – We were back in Austin for our annual trip, just arrived Saturday night. We settled in at our hotel and then began the deliberation process of where to eat as we were both famished. The light bulb went off, and we remembered the place we'd tried the previous year that we'd really enjoyed. The problem was, we couldn't remember the name. However, we did have a general idea of where it was located. So trekked out to conquer the streets in search of grub. We got lucky and found it on the first try, back over on 17th. W... read more
Always amazing – A bit out of the way, but worth it if you find yourself in that part of town. I am not part of the young and hip, but I like going to Sagra. The atmosphere is nice (white table cloths, candles, flowers) and it is not too noisy. if the weather is good the outdoor area is to die for. And I love the food. The truffle oil pizza alone is worth the trip. Not like any other pizza I have ever had, it is round and has cheese but other wise has little in common with pizza It is light and delicate and amazing. The othe... read more
Worst Dining Experience in Austin – In brief: They lost our reservation, the food was awful, the wine pairing were worse, we felt like we were being herded out like cattle even though the restaurant was not full, the waitstaff had no knowledge of what they were serving even though the menu was pre fixe, the restaurant was so crowded that I was repeatedly bumped by people trying to get by, and we had to order pizza when we got home because we ate so little of the food, and the cost was $150 for two people. In more detail: We ... read more
Business response:
We pride ourselves on our food, service & ambiance. We tried hard to make it a special day&were confused by your very hurtful review. You made a reservation on Valentine?s Day for Valentine?s Day. You were put on a waiting list,at every cancellation you were called, eventually we confirmed. I am sorry you felt rushed. As stated we lost your reservation but immediately got you a table.Should we have turned you away? All the empty tables(including yours)had been reserved for weeks. I had the chicken involtini in lemon broth and d... read more
Good Food, Good Location, Great Service! – I brought a date here, after reading a citysearch review and loved it. Not only did they meet my expectations, but Sagra went above and beyond. We started with a cheese plate that had a local herb goat cheese, a really creamy tallegio cheese, and gorgonzola cheese. It was served on a bamboo cutting board with fresh fruit, walnuts and crackers. The cheese plate was a great appetizer and really affordable ($9) it also allowed for my date to try some cheeses she had never before tried.... read more
