No one can cook up an Indian and Mediterranean fusion as good as Mohammed Bhatti, and to experience some of the greatest dishes from his kitchen you will have to come down to Safron Grill. Located in the Northgate tenement, this restaurant is easily recognizable with its vibrant red facade and is a local favorite. Be sure to try their signature dish, the famed butter chicken which is simmered in a rich tomato butter-cream-sauce. Other remarkable dishes on the menu include the traditional tikka masala, jaipuri masala and shis... read more

Favoite Indian in Seattle. – Cedar's on Brooklyn had been a haunt of mine for more than ten years. It was always the comfort food of choice, and one of the first places I went, when my budget allowed me to. I was saddened by the change of ownership, as Mohammad had always treated my like a welcome guest in his home. I was honored by the service he presented, and the food was good. Imagine my suprise when I heard he had opened a new restaurant. The Saffron Grill is a fantastic upgrade to Cedar's. The decor is fabulous, the ex... read more
Delicious Lunch – We had the vegetarian appetizer. Each item was better than the last. My husband ordered a combo plate with Tandoori Chicken, shrimp, other meat, vegetable and rice and he loooved it. I had a wonderful channa masala with paneer. We will go back again and again!
Awesome service, food and decor! – Great food! Great service and staff!!! Very friendly and courteous. AWESOME decor!! Not too expensive. Per head ..around $12. They even gave compliemntary sweet dish!! ..sweet :). Spice levels are according to american standards so if you are an indian go for spice level 4/5 or 5/5 food and that'll be decent/hot spicy :).
Way too Expensive – I give this place a reluctant 3. We sat in the bar for happy hour but decided to try the dinner menu. I ordered the lamb kabobs (cooked in a clay pott...or so I thought) and my husband had chicken with chili sauce. My lamb was extremely overcooked, dry and chewy...I thought it would be served in a clay pott but it was just served on a plate. I believe the veggies were frozen (but I am not sure) but they were very overcooked and bland. My husband liked his meal but it was definitely on the small side. The ... read more
BEST INDIAN FOOD OUTSIDE OF INDIA! (Outstanding Food, Prices, Ambiance, & Service!) – The staff at Saffron Grill was more than friendly and eager to assist. The menu had so much variety that I had a hard time not ordering a little bit of everything. For a drink, I definitely recommend their Mango Lasi (sp?). It is to die for! The food arrived very fast and my water glass was always full. They have great attention to detail here. Even if I took just one sip, when the water guy made his rounds, that sip was replaced. The porti... read more
Exceptional personalized service. You will never run out of water. – I have enjoyed Cedars for many years and was very saddened by they?re closing. I had many large parties and other fun events and occasions there. When the owner told me he would be opening a new restaurant I was very eager and excited to come visit. My Fiancee and I stopped by last night and found great parking and wonderful service as I had experienced in the past. The food is to die for. I like the expansion to the already delicious menu. Try it all trust... read more
Great Mediterranean food in the Northgate – Imagine how happy I was to walk in to Saffron Grill to be greeted by the owner of the former Cedars, my previously favorite Indian cuisine restaurant which I have been enjoying for the past 15 years. The Saffron?s decor is beautiful, upscale from Cedars but with the same charm and warmth. The tables are comfortable and spacious. The menu is even better than the menu at Cedars, offering more Mediterranean choices as well as my old favorites. I even noticed a selection of American fa... read more
Best Indian food ever – Saffron is a great place for Indian food! The butter chicken and vegetable samosas are incredible... The new restaurant has all the benifit of Cedars - my former favorite place for Indian food: great food, friendly service, re-fillable chai, and a warm greeting from the owner. It minimizes the few detriments of the last restaurant as well: better parking and more space for the tables. If you like Indian food, you should definitely try Saffron.
Oh yeah! – I / we love Indian food. And as such, have tried many Indian restaurants in the greater Seattle area. The 'Cedars' on 50th and Brooklyn has, for many years been our favorite. We always enjoyed being treated like close friends of the family, as much as the delicious fare. Although sometimes we had to wait awhile for a seat, the service, ambiance, and delicious food was always worth the wait. How sad to find out several months ago that the owner, Mohammad, had (we assumed) retired. :( Now imagine our surprise that w... read more
