The old magic of Cedar's on 50th is back -- at the Saffron Grill -- and so are we. – We wondered why the quality of "Cedar's on 50th" had slipped in the last few months, and found out that the previous owner sold the restaurant and has opened another place, the Saffron Grill at Northgate, still in Seattle. Good Food Bad Management – I eat out alot and I worked in the food industry for several years. I have seen bad managers before but the owner/ manager of Saffron Grill on northgateway, is right there at the top of the list. I watched him drag one of servers away from tables while they were talking to the customers, not by coming up and excusing himself but by yelling from across the dining room. The best Indian food! – The 'Cedars' on 50th and Brooklyn for many yrs was my favorite Indian restaurant. Now the owner has opened Saffron Grill and it is a beauty. Still same great service, delicious food, family friendly, more room, and parking. Mohammad and his family, I consider part of mine. They are very genuine and caring about their patrons.
Don't believe the OPEN sign late at night. – The hours listed here are incorrect: Citysearch says this restaurant is open until 12 on Saturdays, and the owner lambasted us tonight for walking in at 9:40 pm. Twice before he seated us, he told us that the kitchen was about to close, so we would have to order right away. Then he went and found our waitress, told her that we had ASKED to order immediately, and rushed her toward us before we had had the menus in our hands for 30 seconds. Our favorite restaurant – When my wife and I met in 2004, we were already both fans of Cedars. It wasn't long before we were eating there together every week. In 2007, I proposed to her there! For the wedding, Muhammed and his crew baked and boxed over 100 pieces of baklava for our guest favors. When Cedars was sold, we were devastated! Not to be missed – For the last 15 years I have enjoyed Muhammed Bhatti's wonderful restaurant, Cedars on Brooklyn. When I heard Cedar's was changing hands and going to be Cedars in name only, I was dismayed! How many great meals, how many happy times had we enjoyed there? Creative food fusion, and awesome waitstaff! – I was pleasantly surprised to walk in to this restaurant and instantly take in the modern, exotic decor. I was secondly so happy to see that the owner is the same previous owner of Cedars on Brooklyn! The best just got better – We've eat Indian cuisine all over the world (including India) and haven't found any better than what Muhammed serves. His new restaurant maintains the consistently attentive and personalized service of his former U-district site in a new venue with soft light ambience and classy decor which make this a considerable step up in style; yet without a hike in prices. This is an outstanding value for exceptional Indian and Mediterranian dining.
What a delight! – What a delight to know that Mr Muhammad has returned. I am so excited to see this family back in business again. OUTSTANDING FOOD! I can not say enought about the food.
