No one can cook up an Indian and Mediterranean fusion as good as Mohammed Bhatti, and to experience some of the greatest dishes from his kitchen you will have to come down to Safron Grill. Located in the Northgate tenement, this restaurant is easily recognizable with its vibrant red facade and is a local favorite. Be sure to try their signature dish, the famed butter chicken which is simmered in a rich tomato butter-cream-sauce. Other remarkable dishes on the menu include the traditional tikka masala, jaipuri masala and shis... read more

closest to heaven!! – This is the place you can get closest to heaven for Indian food. Today my husband , son and I went for dinner and were greeted by the owner himself! He asked us to be seated on table 8 and saw to it we were served. The enterie was super and so was the food! Why while we were waiting for the food to arrive he sent us a complementary enterie!! The food was finger licking good! We are from Indias and were thrilled to have such authentic food in Northgate. So proud to be from India! Keep up the great work! ... read more
Whats up with the bell? – My girl friends and I all wanted to meet Friday for a drink. We all live somewhat closet to Saffron so we decided to try it. We sat in the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. The Mazza plate is very tasty and their Margaritas are really quite good, the waiter was very attentive..We couldnt help but notice a constant ongoing, never ending ringing of a bell in the background. It was as if someone was pounding over and over again upon it. We asked our waiter about it. Apparently its the Cook. He ban... read more
This Restaurant Is My New Favorite! We Had a Great Experience – We visited the Saffron Grill for the first time tonight, and are so glad that we did. The service was super friendly, high-class feeling and the food was PHENOMENAL!!! In the words of rapper McLyte, this place "Rocks the party that rocks the body"!! :) For the best combination of Indian and Mediterranean food, I would go here in a heartbeat.
Bad ownership means a waste of a nice place – We have eaten at the Saffron Grill for the last time. The owner, Muhammed, is ever-present and a big drawback to the whole experience. He yells at and embarrasses the staff, argues with customers and talks down to customers and spoils the whole experience. The two couples next to us had coupons from Val-Pac. He would not allow them to use them even tho' they had asked in advance about it and asked for separate checks. They were noticeably upset when the answer came that they were... read more
good, but a little too pricey – We had dinner there recently, and were excited about good Indian food in our neighborhood, being fans of Cedars. The tandoori chicken was decent, but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The pieces were on the small side, and a little well done. We also had the butter chicken, which was tasty, but probably had about 1.5 boneless chicken thighs worth of meat, sitting in a pool of sauce, and thats it. Tasty, but not really worth $14 in my opinion. All the meat dishes were at least $14, and with... read more
The old magic of Cedar's on 50th is back -- at the Saffron Grill -- and so are we. – We wondered why the quality of "Cedar's on 50th" had slipped in the last few months, and found out that the previous owner sold the restaurant and has opened another place, the Saffron Grill at Northgate, still in Seattle. Their wonderful recipes went with them to the new, inviting Saffron Grill, in a more open and convivial space. Many dishes have been improved in subtle ways, and intriguing new menu items have been added. You can't go wron... read more
Good Food Bad Management – I eat out alot and I worked in the food industry for several years. I have seen bad managers before but the owner/ manager of Saffron Grill on northgateway, is right there at the top of the list. I watched him drag one of servers away from tables while they were talking to the customers, not by coming up and excusing himself but by yelling from across the dining room. Shortly after that I saw him yelling at my server for bringing out my appetizer with my meal ( which I had asked for ) and then appo... read more
The best Indian food! – The 'Cedars' on 50th and Brooklyn for many yrs was my favorite Indian restaurant. Now the owner has opened Saffron Grill and it is a beauty. Still same great service, delicious food, family friendly, more room, and parking. Mohammad and his family, I consider part of mine. They are very genuine and caring about their patrons.
Don't believe the OPEN sign late at night. – The hours listed here are incorrect: Citysearch says this restaurant is open until 12 on Saturdays, and the owner lambasted us tonight for walking in at 9:40 pm. Twice before he seated us, he told us that the kitchen was about to close, so we would have to order right away. Then he went and found our waitress, told her that we had ASKED to order immediately, and rushed her toward us before we had had the menus in our hands for 30 seconds. This would have been less of a problem if ... read more
