Keep Walking... – I work in the area and with so many great restaurants around, I would not recommend this one. I've been there three times and the staff gets slower and slower. While most restaurants in the area are expensive, the prices are usually justified by great meals. That is not the case here. The meals are overpriced and the food is very unimpressive. Don't waste the time or money.
incompetent staff and manager – We were in a hurry and had to ask for check several times. I personally asked manager if they could seperate checks and he said no problem. The waiter then brought back two checks, there were seven of us. The checks were not correct and they gave me my daughters tab twice, none for me, and they both showed mertchants copy. I signed them and left because of time. The others at my table were delayed another 30min trying to get it straigtened out, and in the end, they did not correct the tabs. Th... read more
Have to pass on Rue 57 – I hear this restaurant is from the same owners of Tao and Stanton Social. Service seems to be getting worse and worse. I dined there 2 months ago with my wife and we got sick from the food. I hear they have problems like this all the time. I'll continue to go to Stanton Social, but Rue 57 will have to be a pass
Great experience every time! – Don't let the naysayers fool you: Rue 57 is a magnificent dining experience! I have been there repeatedly at various times of day and night and have never been disappointed. A key element I always appreciate is, having gone several times, the staff takes the time to remember you, learn your name and welcome you back with gracious open arms. They are knowledgeable and friendly with great senses of humor. Take the time and treat yourself to a full meal. Start with the crispy popcorn shrimp with a... read more
Was good but has declined – Have been there 4 times now and service is declining. First time everything was very good (burgers, sushi, salads) which drew me back for a Mint Lemonade and beet salad again. Second time was a quick bite and run so it was good with no issues. But the waiter we got the next time kept forgetting to bring my S.O. his coffee--had to ask for it more than once. Yesterday I went there with 3 others. Way too hot in there--keep the doors closed and a/c on in the heat! Waitress misunderstood us several tim... read more
Okay food, not very helpful when I got my bag stolen there... – I went there for dinner with a coworker and we sat outside at the end of a row of tables with a large planter at the end. At some point during dinner someone crawled up behind me and stole my bag, which was by my side against the wall, literally touching my leg. I have no idea how they did it as my dining companion was sitting facing me the whole time, but the busboy was noticably clumsy, reaching far over the table and at one point spilled water everywhere so p... read more
Lunch, brunch or sushi anyone? – On a recent trip to the city to meet a friend, he suggested we all have lunch at Rue57 because of the varied menu. Hearing the name I assumed it served French cafe food, but much to my surprise it is a lunch, brunch, and sushi eatery. Of course I thought this was an odd combo, but where food is concerned, why not in our eclectic food universe. The place was bustling and oh so loud. I tried to make a phone call and actually had to step outside on 57th street where I could hear better. If you ca... read more
Great Food, great time, awesome staff. – Everyone at this restaurant is so friendly, it is really refreshing to see that a busy midtown restaurant could be as approachable as this one. Also, the food is so so so so good, must have an awesome chef.
Best steak-au-poivre on the planet, probably. – The problem with restaurant reviews is that most people probably only feel prompted to write one when they've had a bad experience. I was curious to see what other people had written about Rue57 because I've been there several times and NEVER had anything other than a great time. I was surprised to see quite a few bad reviews, so here's my own experince of Rue57... I must admit I haven't tried many items off the menu, simply because the steak-au-poivre is PERFECT so I almost al... read more
