Very Disappointed – Surprised that City Search gave this restaurant such a high rating!! The food was mediocre, and despite being the second table there, we were seated next to the kitchen, which made it noisy and difficult to talk. I will never go to this restaurant again and will never recommend it to my friends.

Good but not excellent – I expected a bit more of the place. Of course the wine list was excellent, the food was pretty good but didn't surprise me, I've had way better dishes in similar restaurants. Our waitress made me feel more like being in a Dinner (she was just ok) She was not very good at handling the wine. The sommelier served us the first round of wine correctly but she ended up preceding him in refilling our glasses abondingly and letting drops on the cloth. great food, reasonable price – Great food, great wine, good prices. The steak was PERFECT, and the creme brulle was INCREDIBLE. Wine recomendations were dead on! Great presentation, understated atmosphere, sommelier was very helpful in pairing the wines. Service was a bit rushed from the apertif to the appetizer, but the remaining was smooth and laid back. One of the best – After eating at many fine dining restaurants in the city, I can say that Rubicon is one of the best. Dennis Leary's culinary combinations were exquisite, I left wanting to know the recipes but feared my lay hands would not do them justice. The service was fantastic, an unobtrusive waitperson was on the ball with picking up our plates and preparing us for the next course. Every course was a delight from the amuse bouche to the dessert. And the wine, what can I say, Larry Stone is a master.

real deal – A complete surpise! Having eaten at some of SF's "best", I expected more of the same from Rubicon... so-so food w/ spotty service and thru-the-roof prices. NOT THE CASE! Rubicon, with its understated decor, authentically friendly staff, and air of a "sophisticated good time" makes for a very laid back, cool scene. The food is unbelieveable. Sorry you were put out – In town on our honeymoon. Rubicon was highly recommended and eagerly anticipated. Food was good, wine as well. Waiter was unpleasant and uninterested at best. Made for a difficult experience, left feeling unsatisfied, not at all how it should be. Went to Aqua two nights later. No comparison, it was an absolutely first rate, all-around dining experience. Best Wine List in San Fran. – We had the pleasure of dining at Rubicon on two occasions the week of June 23 and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. We dined there before we headed to the "wine country," and upon our return, and found the wine list at Rubicon to be the best wine list we had seen on our trip and reasonably priced, too. We also enjoyed the food. The John Dory entree was delicious as well as the free-range chicken entree. I would, however, not recommend the lamb dish. The chef need to rethink that one.
