I was super impressed by Morningside Inn. Amazing location: it's walking distance to Central Park and in a cool old building complete with fire escape that doubles as a balcony for some lucky rooms. Overall great value for an incredibly low price. Only small issue was that the wifi only worked in the basement lounge -- otherwise absolutely no complaints. Room and bathrooms were clean, staff were very helpful, and it was an enjoyable stay overall.

I was quite wary of this hostel, myself and my boyfriend where staying in it for 3 nights before we got set up in an apartment for the summer living and working in NYC. I was pleasantly surprised how clean it was, we booked into a double room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was cleaned a few times a day and the bed had fresh sheets on every morning.

I stayed at the morningside Inn for 3 nights with my husband and son. We had such a good time. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by patrick (the manager)and the two hispanic ladies that work there. They were so friendly and hospitable. My son took such a liking to patrick . he made us feel like we 've known each other for years, and the 2 young ladies that were there were so polite and friendly. they helped us find our way around the city, and even went as far as watching my son for me while i ran out to the store... read more

The hotel was Ok! It was our first time in the city and we really enjoyed it! The room was small but we got free towels every day and never had to wait for the bathroom. Because some reviews complaint, that they made a reservation but didn't receive a room, we called the establishment to verify our reservation. But every thing was ok! The internet wasn't fast but it worked. The last day we discovered there was a kitchen... It would have been nice if they had told us! The location was great, subway was very close and around t... read more

Book a budget standard room and expecting a shared common bathroom but to our surprised we will given a room with bathroom in our room that's was pleasant. Room was small, free wifi. Location was near to subway and supermarkets. From the exterior of the hostel it looks very decent and nice. All I have to say is the location is good :)

Our family of 4 came to discover NYC for a couple of days. I took a bit of a gamble on this place and we are glad that we did! This is actually a hostel. There were French students staying on the 2nd floor. If you're like us and want your own bathroom, ask for a PRIVATE ROOM--when you book on their website. We had 2 beds, 2 little rooms and very small bathroom, a small fridge, sm. closet, dresser, and 2 side tables with drawers. It was VERY CLEAN. Tips: bring your own breakfast items, go to the corner market or CVS for ice, ... read more

I enjoyed staying at the morningside inn during my stay, as soon as I walked in the young lady at the froont desk greeted me with a friendly attitude and was very helpful thoughout my stay when I needed directions on how to get by since this is my first time in New York! all her instructions were right on target. I got my room cleaned about every day and the area is nice and quiet. I also had a room with a bathroom air conditioning and cable tv, even a mini refrigerator(since I understand they also have rooms that dont have ... read more

We could not have had a better place to stay for our large family: incredibly good rates for NYC, the charm of the neighborhood (with places like the Garden of Eden foodstore), and the funkiness of the old building. But it's about people, isn't it, and Patrick, the manager, made our stay. He is a host through and through, both gracious and generous. And funny. Thanks for adding greatly to our time in New York!

Morningside Inn is the perfect hotel if you're planning to visit the city. I have stayed at the hotel many times throughout the years and it has always been a great experience. The hotel is located in a fantastic neighborhood and is less than a five minute walk to the nearest subway. The building staff (the Manager of Morningside, Patrick, and front desk staff) have always been extremely polite and helpful with whatever has been needed. The building and the rooms themselves have always been extremely clean and are very well-... read more
