Lack of instruction to begin with, to learn you have to dig for information on their forums. You make a mistake and there is no going back, no constructive feedback that helps move forward and do a better job next time. Humans are disposable to this company. Basically, if you make one mistake, that means your job has to be perfect without clear guidelines, and your account is deactivated. Im glad to not depend on this company for income. Its stressfull knowing youre disposable for one mistake you made on one 3 minute job. Te... read more

An electronic sweatshop. Brutal pay, incredibly harsh and arbitrary grading. Many of the files are interesting and fun, but NOT worth the constant fear of a bad grade destroying your metrics. You simply can't make anywhere close to even minimum wage unless on the + tier, and I rarely made minimum wage even there. A predatory company ripe for a govt. or class action lawsuit- they DO NOT pay minimum wage, not even close, not even with our absurdly low minimum wage in the US, and they KNOW IT. Should have quit much earlier than... read more

Rev.com is unpredictable and highly volatile. They close freelance accounts without proper reasons, just sending an automated email. As if this is not enough, the accounts are closed towards the end of the work week, when someone has put in all their effort to work throuughout the week, only for them to withhold the earnings, and delete any earnings history from the website. It is a legit company that eventually scams freelancers of their hard-earned money.

I finished one job and submitted with no problem. Completed the next job a couple hours later (long before it was due), and it wouldn't submit. Contacted support (several times) and they kept recommending the same "fixes" over and over, although they admitted that other Rev ******* were reporting the same problem throughout the day. They never fixed the submission issue, tagged it as something I didn't complete; deactivated my account and didn't pay me for my work. Very unprofessional.

Graders are subjective and metrics are ridiculous because despite getting a good grade, my metrics went down. what?

I was deactivated as a freelance transcriptionist from rev.*** and do not agree with the conditions that I was deactivated. Between Nov 30th, 2020 and Dec 1st, 2020 I was that I was in a Transcription warning period because I metrics had fallen below standards and should my metrics fall again in the up***ing 120 day warning period I would be deactivated. Once grading of my last project was ***pleted on December 1st, 2020, my metrics were 4.50 for Accuracy and 4.90 for Formatting. I haven't been on Rev.*** since and went on t... read more

Their actual turnaround times are always at least twice what they tell you. It takes the average transcriptionist 1 hr to transcribe 20 minutes of audio, not 7.5 to 16.5 hours. And when they fail to deliver as promised (99% accuracy for good quality audio, delivery within a quoted turnaround time, failure of transcriptionist to follow style guide) they always refuse to refund your money. Most of their customer service agents have been patronizing, one was dishonest, and one told me that if I was going to keep insisting the c... read more

My account was deactivated when all of my metrics, commitment ratios and on time percentages were above the revver targets. I even received a 5 star rating from a customer. There was no warning emails and no way to contact the company regarding this. They don’t allow you to go through the application process and re-train.

Their metrics have impossible standards. They have other transcribers grading your work, so if they mess up, it deducts from your grade. Tons of cross talk, bad audio, heavy accents, etc. And when you translate the verbatim jobs, they flag you on improper usages (So, if someone doesn't speak well, I still transcribe what they say. Cause, you know, its VERBATIM). I was on a waiting list for 3 months and then had my account deactivated in just a few days. Also, you can't re-apply. Once your account is deactivated you are banne... read more
