Helpful employees – I was told this was an European classic hotel and good employees, very helpful. I didn’t like the neighborhood, but it's not too far to the Union Square area. When I had dinner near the Hotel Nikko, I took a cab to go back to the hotel.
it was good – Convenient public transportation access (10 min to cable car, in front of MUNI metro and buses) but surrounding area is not so good. Can’t go out side in the night. There are some restaurants including a fast food place close to the hotel. It was good. Room was clean for this price category. The Aida Hotel is right across the street. Front Desk employee arranged airport shuttle for me when I just asked how to go to the airport.
As the rate was low, I didn’t expect much for the hotel. Bath tub looked a little old but others were acceptable. It was too noisy outside. During my stay I saw a Japanese lady whom I didn’t see at check in. It was a surprise! She spoke to me in English first then in Japanese. She looked like Chinese! I guess she changed her language to Japanese after she saw my name during the conversation.
The service here was excellent. The staff, maybe to compensate for other problems, bent over backwards to arrange tours, get cabs, store luggage, etc. The staff here was every bit as professional as that of much finer hotels
convienient – There was a golden lion (looks like a “Mitsukoshi Department Store” lion) by the entrance. Also Renoir oil paintings or prints as the hotel name represented. High ceiling, big columns and gold colored decor were impressive. It looked like the triangle building shape made guest rooms’ sizes different. Convenient location as the hotel was located on Market St. Whenever I travel, rates and locations are important factors.
The Renoir and its staff certainly exceeded our expectations!
My Experience – The lobby was small but the people at the desk had a great view of the entire area, including the two elevators. There were a few sofas and chairs, racks with tourist brochures, and a small dining area for breakfast and lunch. There was a door leading to a pub and a full service restaurant. The lobby was neat and clean and looked like it was newly remodeled or refurbished. But the old triangular building still held much charm with its high ceilings, detailed moldings, and old brass elevator doors. We requeste... read more
Renoir Rescue – Once again my husband had a professional conference in a wonderful city where I wished to go play while he worked. Once again the conference hotel cost close to $150 a night far exceeding any budget he had in his grant for such an expense. Once again I came to the rescue by finding a nearby hotel for only $77.52 which included all taxes. If you are familiar with San Francisco, the Renoir Hotel is on a triangle formed by McAllister Street, Market Street, and Leavenworth Street. From the maps I had this appeare... read more
