Red Mill Burgers

4.6

About this business

Red Robin isn't the only place to get gourmet burgers in the Pacific Northwest. This similarly named burger joint has been voted "Best Burger" by the readers of the Seattle Weekly. The reasons are obvious, big juicy patties, fresh buns and crisp lettuce, not to mention fair prices. At this chic Red Mill Burgers joint, try the rich Bacon Deluxe with Cheese, the Veggie Burger or the Chicken Burger. The thick milkshakes and malts are nothing to sneer at either.

Flattest burgers I've ever had – If you like your burgers like cardboard, this place is for you. Gray meat, tasteless. I guess the sauce is what makes these burgers so popular, but I say the burger should be able to stand alone. Fries were decent.

Verde Burgers and Bacon Oh My! – Best burgers in Seattle. This is not a fast-food burger joint. Take-out is the best way to enjoy their food as both locations are small and seating is usually limited. Want something different? I recommend the Verde burgers with the rosted peppers as a great burger alternative. Get one of their shakes too.... The buterscotch shake is a great companion.

Over rated Burgers – Red Mill has enjoyed a mysterious popularity for far too long. While they all look like a roadside diner from the distant past done over by Pottery Barn, unfortunately, people become mesmerized by the interior and forget they are eating a burger that for all the attitude and cost is the epitome of mediocrity. The key problem is the meat - it is generic, has no flavor and is perhaps only marginally better than the steam table Burger at AM/PM. Overall this is more about the appearance of good food rather t... read more

Call ahead and take it to go – True you may have to wait a bit so its good to call ahead. Skip the fries and have the onion rings, they are some of the best I've had. I tried the Verde with a garden burger and it was very tasty. Not much seating so plan to go elsewhere and have a picnic.

Never again!!! – I have a great slogan for Red Mill Burger: Where the burders are mediocre and the wait is at least 1/2 an hour! I've been in this place once before a long time ago and decided to give it another chance. I called in my order and they said come by in 10 mins. I came in 10 mins. (the place was not crowded) and after 25 mins later still didn't get my order....SO I LEFT!!! Not worth my time and money.

Yummy Yum!!! – Red Mill serves some mighty fine burgers. The home made smokey mayo sauce gives these burgers a special taste. Ok you have to wait about 10 minutes for your order. Each order is freshly made, but here's a tip. phone ahead and your order will be ready when you arrive. Red Mill is at the oposite end of the spectrum from that other Seattle burger institution, which out of respect for Red Mill won't be mentioned here. Did I mention that Red Mill serves the best burger in Seattle? If you don't like beef they also h... read more

These are indeed good burgers – I agree these are the best burgers with the most variety I've found in Seattle. Those that wrote reviews that say these burgers are bland have recently had their tastebuds shaved off. They're full of flavor with an assortment of great toppings. Skip the fries, as they are run-of-the-mill frozen fries you can find across the street at QFC. Call ahead, and your order will be waiting for you.

Vastly Overrated – The service is slow, the drinks come in only one size and they don't take plastic (but they do take checks -- what's with that?) All of this could be forgiven, except their burgers tasteless. Oh, sure, if you load it up with bacon and fire-roasted chilis and white truffle oil it starts to taste like something. But try a plain hamburger or cheeseburger and you'll realize that their meat is no better than McDonalds, at three times the cost. The best burger joint in town -- if you don't know what a burger sho... read more

Food Passable, Atmosphere NOT – Why all the hype is about this completely average burger joint? The buns are good, and the bacon is crispy, but the burger patties are micro-thin and mine was undercooked. Add to this a semi-snotty staff (who called the wrong name for my order for a good 10 minutes), looooooong wait (at least 30 minutes at dinnertime), and crush of patrons sporting Seattle-superior attitudes (you'll NEVER hear anybody utter "please", "thank you" or "excuse me"), and Red Mill gets a "thumbs down" in my book.
