Featured on Food Networks, "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" theRed Iguana has been a Salt Lake City staple long before the show aired. This Mexican restaurant is family owned and operated, serving dishes from various regions of Mexico as well as some family favorites handed down from generation to generation. This family friendly establishment also offers a simplified menu for los niños and is so popular that a line can be seen wrapping around the block during high traffic meal times.

Excellent! Best Mexican food ever. We came from Michigan, headed to Seattle and we made a side trip to revisit the Red Iguana. Well worth the effort. We lucked out and only waited 20 mins. We were prepared for an hour wait.
Delicious :-) a hidden gem in Utah. Make sure to stop here ^__^
The Red Iguana is our favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City and really the only Mexican food place we ever eat. The food is great and service is Impeccable. It could not be any better.
Seriously the best Mexican food I’ve ever had or even made myself!
Awesome mole and carnitas and margaritas, nice friendly waitstaff.
One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at. If you ever are in salt lake city this should be your first choice. Also the wait (an hour or sometimes more) is well worth it. Just be ready for the wait when you go.
Came here after hearing all the great talk about it, there's absolutely nothing authentic about this place. *Disclaimer* I didn't have the mole, which is supposedly what they're known for, but 2 obvious red flags were that there was no Pastor or fresh juices on the menu. Any good Mexican place would undoubtably have both. We ordered the nachos regulares and the cochinita pibil. The nachos were extremely mediocore, I'm pretty positive I've had better nachos in a movie theatre and the cochinita was fine but literally just fine... read more
Excellent authentic Mexican food! Well worth the wait outside - even in the winter.
From Virginia and everyone told me I had to come and it was worth the wait.
