About this business

Established in 2012, Ramen Tatsu-Ya takes pride in being one-of-a-kind in Austin. This restaurant attempts to recreate the typical feel of Japanese ramen stalls as found with its ambiance and food. As the name suggests, the specialty of this place is the ramen; the wheat for the noodles and the broth are prepared fresh, on-site, so you are sure to get only the best. Refraining from accepting reservations, Ramen Tatsu-Ya is an intimate space that can seat approximately 38 guests; get there well in advance to grab a table.

The best ramen in town by far. Yes there is almost always a wait but that's an Austin problem not the restaurants. I feel like the downtown location does the meat slightly better somehow (maybe they torch it before adding it to the broth?) but both locations are 5 stars. Have been twice and everything was suberb. First time I had the original and it was a porky treat. My husband had the Mi So Hot and that was a richer, more filling, but also delicious choice. Second time I went for the Mi So Hot with a Fire in the Bowl (about the perfect level of heat for me). The Brussels Sprouts and Hush Piggies were also great appetizers. The Underwood Wine is also perfect while waiting in line (and while eating). Service is warm and helpful. It can be a little tricky to catch someone's attention once you... read more
