Our trip out was flawless... our trip back in with snow and Ice had a few flaws but was wonderful considering the weather.
With taking 40+ trips a year via RDU today was the worst. Whoever is responsible for the planning of the airport roads should be let go. You all had plenty of time to get your act together but alas the road conditions are unacceptable. Barely any sand down or salt. If you don't have the resources then find a company that has them. Besides that RDU is usually pretty good to get in/out.
Had the misfortune to fly into RDU onSunday at noon. Of course runways were clear and you would think the gate area would be as well. But my flight had to wait on the tarmac for almost an hour to get a truck to pull the plane in. The first truck got stuck, so they had to get a bigger truck to pull us to the gate. Then because it was too icy, they couldn't get our bags out. That took another 30 minutes. You could argue that snow/ice doesn't happen that often at RDU. Too bad I couldn't select zero stars. TSA was great, thorough yet efficient. However, 3/4" of snow on Saturday, made for awful delays on my flight Sunday evening. Inexcusable that there is no system in place to handle such a minor weather event.
