Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Loved it
Our motor coach tour had dinner there-my husband and I had the pot roast. Great flavor, tender, perfectly seasoned and huge portions!!! Our experience was wonderful.
This was the last leg of our driving trip. We only booked one night and wish we could have stayed longer. We are now planning a trip back to stay here longer and explore the area. Loved the tavern and baker and breakfast in dining hall. The staff is great and the rooms match them!

The baked scrod was bland and the rice was dry and not much flavor, Butternut squash well it was but I’m not squash mashed no flavor to that either had to put my own butter and spices into it. Sorry to say this I’ve eaten there for years many times inside outside in the dining room in the pub and I’ve never had such a tasteless meal. The breads were good

As good as I remember, definitely stop if your in the area.
Charles made our dining experience one to remember on our first wedding an anniversary!! Highly recommend the food and Charles the waiter!!
Have been coming here for many years. Food, and service is always great. Love the ambiance, and the history of the tavern (1771) is so great...
