Prune

4.5

About this business

A light and airy dining room overlooks an open kitchen at Prune, where good American food is served in a charming ambiance. Oysters, gravlax, and deviled eggs are good starters. Popular entrees include braised rabbit legs with carrots and fennel, braised beef short ribs with Yorkshire pudding and grilled rib eye steak with parsley-shallot butter. For dessert, the warm chocolate cake is delicious; try the oranges with vanilla beans, and the unexpected and fantastic butter and sugar sandwiches.

5 and a half stars What do I recommend? Everything. Two suggestions: 1) never change ; and 2) up until the day he died last year at 83, my father complained about a woman who nagged him to put frigging turkey chili on the menu of his crazy Mexican restaurant “Carlos O’Connors” in Red Bank, NJ, because she had “the best” turkey chili ever at a truck stop diner on rt 35 in Avenel. NEVER put turkey chili on your menu. My father never did, but I know he’s still complaining about that woman. Great article in today’s NYTimes magaz... read more

It’s been a dream of mine to come here for a long time. I was not disappointed in any way. The food is incredible, and Greg gave awesome service. A must stop on any NYC visit.
