We are a bike shop, but we try to be more than that. The most important thing to us is that you get on a bike and ride to your heart’s content. We want to make sure you get on the best bike for you. Thursday nights we’re open late. Come over for food, drinks, and conversation! We have comfortable couches and a charming staff. Most of all, we have really cool customers. Come in and meet them: recreational cyclists, roadies, commuters, mountain bikers, cyclocross racers, fixed-gear fans and everyone in between.

RecommendedProteus Bicycles is my favorite local bike shop. I'm often reminded of the tv show Cheers when I walk in because it's a place where everyone knows your name. They helped fit me on my hybrid, I bought my road and gravel bike from them, and have swapped out shoes, saddles, pedals, stems, and tires with them. It's the place I returned to after I fell off my bike and had a concussion, they took care of me and my bike. Great customer service! Laurie went with me during my test ride, which was fantastic. I was able to ask her questions while riding. That experience alone ensured I was buying a bike from Proteus. I have recommended this shop to everyone ready for a new bike!
I dropped off my 1997 hardtail mountain bike off on Monday for a major project to convert it to an urban beater / trail bike. Lots of changes (fork replacement, first time for fenders, pedals, hub overhaul, major derailleur adjustment, etc.). I expected it to take a couple of weeks; I had it back in 3 days! This shop is awesome and major kudos to the mechanics.
The best bike shop in the area. As a woman cyclist of a certain age, I feel especially welcome. Love the social rides and community focus.
